The source said the planned visit by Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner had hit logistical problems. A separate source had earlier said Kushner intended to meet Trudeau aides on the margins of a cabinet retreat in Calgary.
Likely topics included NAFTA and details of the first meeting between Trudeau and Trump, which both sides say will happen soon, added the source.
Trudeau’s leadership team is meeting in the Alberta city less than two weeks after the prime minister shuffled his cabinet to put his foreign minister in charge of U.S. ties with a focus on the best approach to take with Trump, who took office on Jan. 20.
The challenge of dealing with Washington comes at a sensitive time for Trudeau, who is facing probes into a vacation he took with the Aga Khan as well as his centrist Liberal Party’s fundraising activities.
We are in deep —- if Trump thinks he can send his son in law on all these trips. He is going to have to go himself. There are about 5 different possibly 6 differnt electrical connections from where we get electricity. If Trump rips up NAFTA our lights may just go out. There is a plant at present being built. (Not yet finished and under construction) The U.S. is still being talked about. –Let’s leave it to Trump! This has nothing to do with jobs!
