Washington - Obama Not Amused By Biden's Joke About Chief Justice John Roberts |

Washington - Don’t envy President Barack Obama as he tries to keep VP Joe Biden’s lips zipped.
At a swearing-in ceremony Wednesday for senior White House staff members, Biden joked about Chief Justice John Roberts’ flubbing of the inaugural oath on Wednesday.
A tight-lipped Obama looked on as Biden made his comments, which drew a few oohs and ahhs from the crowd of staff.
Obama didn’t smile at Biden’s remarks. He even moved to push Biden to get to the podium and get on with the task at hand.
I’m encouraged by Obama’s actions Wednesday. They indicate he wants to be serious when necessary, and not make jokes at others’ expenses when unnecessary.

I heard the swearing in on 1010 wins news. Both Roberts and Obama messed up. Roberts missplaced the word "faithfully" and Obama began his first phrase too soon. One can argue that Obama's goof threw off Roberts. Either way, let's daven for Obama's safety, firstly because it is the right thing to do, and secondly, because we can't afford a President Biden.

It's not the middle of the term, it's hardly the beginning!!! President Obama knew what he was getting himself into by selecting Joe Biden. He knew all his ups and downs. Apparently he concluded that he can gain more by having him on the ticket than not, despite his (JB's) shortcomings!!!

Not true: Where VP, Sen. Joe Biden shows that he lightens up a tense situation with a sense of humor, the President gives the impression of a serious person worthy of the job he was elected to do!!!

Biden is head and shoulders above Dan Quail- no comparison. Biden is a well informed gaff machine. Quail was a lightweight. Jill Biden appears to be a match for Joe on Gaff's. With her it's an ego problem..the need to brag.

I think actions are more important than words. So stop judging people and elected representatives by their words and goof ups.Judge them by the change that they "might" bring about.

both Biden's humor/charm and Obama's gravity are good qualities in their own right. In various contexts, displaying their contrasting personalities is a great way to demonstrate the strengths of each. However, because Biden's gaffiness is considered a political liability, he owes a lot of loyalty to Obama as the person who brought him to the next level, and thus he will always have to back down when Obama wants him to.

The oath of our highest office is really not a good joke. Considering Mr. Obama had to take it over again today. ”
Technically, he did not have to take the oath again. The Electoral College chose him and he became president on Tuesday. However, just to avoid any perceived problems, they decided to administer a second, correct, oath.
As for the media, don't worry, they'll be making fun of Obama and Biden: it wasn't just a Bush/Cheney "thing" or liberal bias. The media thrives on controversy. The honeymoon will be over soon. Once the administration finishes with the galas, the dances, and parties and gets down to actually making decisions and governing the country, the media-fest will begin. They'll have all the pundits up there talking about how they've "dropped the ball" or are leading the country poorly or don't understand the needs of [choose one] main street, wall street, the man in the street, women, minorities, farmers, the cities, big business, small business, the unemployed, the overworked, health insurance, socialized medicine, etc.
For good and for bad, Obama is our President and Biden our Vice-President: let us be mispalel for their administration and for the United States.

Well everybody knew that this guy Biden is not the brightest bulb in the room. His problem is that the furniture in the upper chamber of his body is not aranged in the proper rooms. But that is whom Hussein Obama wanted as a heartbeat away from the Presidency. That does not say much about him either. We are in for a rough ride. Hold on.

Don't forget this is the same buffoon who during the campaign said that when the stock market crashed in 1929, President Franklin Roosevelt went to TV to reassure the nation! (FDR would not be elected until 1932 and TV was strictly an experimental technology in '29 and would not be in people's homes for another 20 years). Yet, the media ignored his gaffe (just like they ignored Obama talking about how he had campaigned in "all 57 states"). If Sarah Palin had said something that stupid, or if President Bush had done so -- well, we'd still be hearing endlessly about it on TV and the press to this very day.
Beyond his reputation as the Gaffer-in-Chief, Biden (elected to the Senate in 1972) has been in Washington longer than Obama has been a grownup -- but he has almost always been on the WRONG side of every major issue (supported ending US aid to South Vietnam, resulting in a Communist victory there, objected to protecting the identities of US CIA personnel from illegal disclosure, opposed Desert Storm in 1991, etc). I am DEFINITELY NOT reassured having this political Ted Baxter a heartbeat away from the Presidency. STAY HEALTHY, OBAMA.
