Libya – Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi advised US President Barack Obama on Wednesday to give Osama bin Laden a chance to reform, telling the new president that America’s most wanted man was looking for “dialogue”.

Gaddafi hailed what he called “positive signals” so far from the new Obama administration, including plans to close the US prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Speaking to students at Georgetown University via a satellite link-up from Libya, Gaddafi said Washington must review its approach to bin Laden, who is blamed for the September 11, 2001 attacks and tops the US Most Wanted List.
“Terrorism is a dwarf not a giant. Osama bin laden is a person who can be given a chance to reform,” Gaddafi said through an interpreter. He gave no indication that he had any contact with bin Laden or wanted to act as a go-between.
“Maybe we can have a dialogue with him and find out the reason that led him in this direction,” he added.
Moreover, he said the Taliban, which the United States helped oust in Afghanistan, was “not as it has been portrayed” and Washington should review its views on that group too.
In a speech outlining his views on how to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Gaddafi called for the creation of one state rather than two nations living side by side.
“We can call it Isratine,” he said.
If Jews did not accept a one-state solution, he said they could move to Hawaii, Alaska or an island in the Pacific. “They could live peacefully in an isolated setting.”
And What about the Jews who were chased out of Libya and had their property stolen, should they also move to Hawaii?.
They weren’t chased out of Libya. They left on their own. And Libya has offered all Jews who left to return. Most Moroccan Jews remained in Morocco until 1968, most Egyptian Jews until 1956.Most Algerian Jews only left after Algerian independence, and most went to France. If it was so bad in those places, why did they remain for so long after 1948? And how is it that the Arab countries, unlike the Soviet Union, let so many Jews just get on airplanes and depart?

Sorry to disrupt the Gaddafi bashing party, and excuse my ignorance if I’m wrong: but isn’t a 1 state solution what Israel and the rest of the world have been trying to achieve for the past 60 years? Israel, including all it territories governed under the Israeli Government (which already has Israeli Arabs in it), all living together in peace. And those Arabs who don’t like it, can pick any of the 32(?) Arab countries to live in. If he can get the Arabs who live in Israel (gaza, west bank & golan included) to agree to his plan, I think he will be everyone’s hero. He isnt suggesting anything new to me, just trying to get his name in the news again. The only problem being that very few Arabs want a “shared” country living in peace, they want war.
There is one state now-it’s called Israel. The problem is the Arabs don’t recognize it. And if the Jews were to, chas v’Shalom, be deported to Hawaii, Gaddafi would have to join the move-he’s Jewish.

If Gaddafi is such a good, great & smart person, let him be good with his own and not be a good guy with the Hawaians.
Let him give the same size land in Lybia to the Israelis (the same size like Israel) and then create “Isratine” and then there will be a country where Jews can live in peace forever with their neighbors !
