Washington – The Jacket Rule Scrapped By Obama

    75

Washington – It’s the same Oval Office. The same desk. Even the same curtains. But President Obama has already made one major change: Go through eight years of White House photos, and you won’t find one of former President Bush in the Oval Office without his jacket on.

It wasn’t just a personal preference. In the Bush administration, it was a rule: Jackets in the Oval Office — and now, it seems, one of the first Bush-era regulations to get scrapped in the Obama White House.

who cares? As if we didn’t know that younger people have less respect? Let’s not make this a major issue like when Kennedy took off his hat.

well one thing that bush had was respect for the office that was lacking so much in the clinton years.

And so, this is the beginning of the descecration of the sanctuary of the United States of America. Gross desecration is always gradual, it starts with something insignificant like a jacket, and yes, some will say, “big deal, so he’s not wearing a jacket”, and it ends in total desecration of the constitution.

Don’t underestimate this behavior. It is a symbol of immaturity, he does not begin to grasp the gravity and respect of the position. Youthful arrogance. The talmud states ‘when the elders demolish, they are actually building; when the young build, they are actually demolishing’.

So President “Hussein” has no respect for the office of the Presidency , no different than what the democrats have exhibited over the last eight years….surprise surprise.

Ronald Reagan was also strict about formal dress in the oval office. It happened once that Pres. reagen was in the rose garden for a ceromoney on an exceptionally hot day. When the staff went into the Oval Office the Chief of Staff, Mike Deaver mentioned to the President about removing his jacket to cool off. Reagen’s reply was “not in here”. Bush 41 was just as strict about respect for the Oval Office

Are you kidding me – who cares
This was a rule in the Bush administration and none other before him.
This is something that I did admire Bush for, but not something I admonish Obama for. Everybody has mailos and chesronos.
Stop nitpicking just because you don’t like him.

This is his office. How many people wear their jackets when they’re working in their office? My impression is it’s part of his attitude of “let’s roll our sleeves up and get down to business.”

On a related note, you may not be required to be Dan LeKaf Zchus with him, but it would be intellectually healthy to consider that he’s more than a step above evil incarnate as many in our community like to portray him.

Shocked that he is revealing his true colors so quickly.

America has elected a man whose difference with past Presidents does not lie in the color of his skin but rather values. No wonder his first act in office was to call a vile terrorist.

    G-d help us all.

who cares? it was never a rule before bush, and bush only made it up cuz it was his own personal silliness. why does this make obama worthy of your condemnation? what are you, one of those silly yeshiva high school principals that calls a kid not jewish if he doesnt wear a jacket for davening?
please. there was no official rule before bush and bush just made it his own personal policy that he didnt want people in the office with out a jacket. so freakin what? seriously people. GET A GRIP

This is like people getting upset that President john F. Kennedy did not wear a hat.

(although senator ted kennedy and vip dick cheney looked pretty frum the other day at the inaguration in their hats!)

Once again the ignorance and pettiness of so many of you astounds and embarrasses me. WHO CARES if he keeps a suit jacket on at all times in the Oval Office? How ids that undignified? Actually, if he’s more comfortable in his shirt sleeves, it means he’ll work better without the jacket. And talk about avoda zora — suddenly you jokers are making the White House out to be a makom kodesh? The Oval Ofice is his work environment, and he’s got a lot of hard work ahead of him.

Did you see those pictures   the ball? As a president, or anybody who has a position as a role model- be it a Rav, principal, or the President, there’s no way that he should be acting the way he did. Dancing away inappropriately.
That’s not someone who i would look up to.

“according to my rebbi in high school if your not wearing a jacket when walking in the street then you are NAKED”

The fact of the matter is not every culture makes it a point to dress like 1800’s Germany. Today, in the modern world, the jacket is largely obsolete. Obama is just reacting to something thats being going on for decades, the same way JFK didnt wear a hat to his inauguration.

Lets critisize Obama when he deserves it, not for stupidities like this.

Rabosi, for those of you who work in a corporate setting, how many of you wear jackets in the office? How many wear jackets at meetings? It is all a matter of comfort. I think the former President was more a stickler for formality then chochma.

    Amazing.

The immerturity on this blog astounds me. A JACKET fires up this croud. Try talking about the actual isses on this site…….

I liked Bush. I liked his determinantion to see things through. But he made mistakes. Iran would have been the better choice to attack.

I was aprehensive about Obama, but there are some things I am glad that Obama was elected. Like the promise to get us off middle east oil by 2010 through the quickest and only viable method — the Plug-in hybrid. Obama promised 1,000,000 Plug-in hybrids by 2015.

Forget about the “chiztonius”- irrelevant trivia, and start talking about the real issues.

    AuthenticSatmar
    AuthenticSatmar

Obama won the vote with about 65%, which is about the same percentage of people who commented in his support.
America does not see what’s wrong with removing the coat, and therefor America doesn’t deserve better. America hated Bush, but I believe history will show how correct he was.
For all of us in the minority, as the saying goes, give them enough rope, and they’ll hang themselves. The Democrats are in control all around, but I believe they will destroy their trustworthiness, and America will revolt.
    So help us G-D.
