Washington – White House Bars Major News Outlets From Media Gaggle

    The Associated Press chose not to participate in the gaggle following the move by White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

    “The AP believes the public should have as much access to the president as possible,” Lauren Easton, the AP’s director of media relations, said in a statement..

    News organizations that were allowed in included the conservative website Breitbart news. The site’s founder, Steve Bannon, is chief strategist to President Donald Trump.

    Earlier Friday in a speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference, President Donald Trump railed against the media.

    This is referring to one single news briefing alone. Obama had plenty of these where only his intimate leftist friends were allowed (except they were kept secret, or at least tried to keep it secret but word leaked, while Trump is open about what he says and does, at least regarding things that are not classified): To name a few:

    December 2012: MSNBC hosts were meeting privately with President Obama

    May 2013: NPR’s Ari Shapiro reported that President Obama was meeting privately

    November 2013: President Obama met again with liberal journalists

    March 2015: “a group of journalists and columnists,” all on the left, met privately with President Obama
