The Orlando Sentinel reports 22-year-old Alexander Shae Johnson was arrested Thursday. Court records show he faces a third-degree felony grand theft charge.

An Orlando police report says a passenger selected for a pat-down search while going through security at Orlando International Airport saw Johnson standing near her bag. The report says she went through her bag afterward and realized cash was missing before noticing a bulge in Johnson’s shirt pocket that turned out to be money.

Johnson said the cash was his but the video showed otherwise. In a statement, TSA said it has “zero tolerance” for misconduct.

Johnson was released on bail. Orange County Jail records don’t list an attorney.

It’s a good reminder to know what’s in your carry-on luggage and to check for the easily removed valuables before leaving the security check in. That can be a challenge when one is in a hurry to get to the gate on time. What ever happened to travelers checks?

I think this should be punished very severely.
It’s not enough just to fire him.
He should never again see the light of day. Perhaps get 20 years under harsh terms.
Why? because this is similar to a murder as the whole searching thing is to prevent murders, and he is destroying all credibility of the whole profession of the TSA workers.
Is it such a trivial matter that a TSA nicks something?
    I don’t think so.
20 years in jail seems reasonable to me.
I can’t help it one claims for him that he was simply too tempted. It simply can’t be tollerated, even once in all of history!
We put all our trust in these men.
