O’Malley on Monday called the Holocaust “the worst crime in human history” and pledged to move a Holocaust memorial to the Boston Archdiocese’s new headquarters.

In a meeting with about 20 Jewish leaders, O’Malley heard from two Holocaust survivors and discussed Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to lift the excommunication of four traditionalist bishops. One, Richard Williamson, denies the Holocaust.

O’Malley tells The Boston Globe the group to which the bishops belong, the Society of St. Pius X, has a “poisonous” agenda. He did support lifting the excommunications

We should not expect that the nations of the world would recognize the terrible evil that was perpetrated against the Jews. This man should be applauded for his courage to see and say the truth. However, do not expect any others to even be remotely honest. We are in Galus!

I bring him up since most jews have some concern about the level of antisemitism in the Catholic church at the highest levels. Thus, to many of us, it was very positive to hear him address the holocaust in such a forceful and forthright manner. Its a shame that some self-hating jews would simply ignore the holocaust denials and the Church’s treatment of the issue. Even if “Hilhouse” doesn’t care, (I assume you are jewish), the new Cardinal does. Come to think of it, you take the screen name of one of the most anti-semitic U.S. Presidents (Richard MILHOUSE Nixon).

My nephew was saved in a monastery in Belgium and his father , my brother was gassed in Birkenau. Catholic [ Orthodox Catholic] SS in the Ukrainia pushed Jewish children into the gas chambers of Majdanek, Treblinka , Sobibor , Maly Trostinec and many other. Pope John 23rd saved Jews and Pope John 2nd , Cardinal Wojtyla spoke about Auschwitz. After 4 years of concentration camp I rode with Jesuit Priest in the Rapido train from Rome to Milan and being alone in a compartment we spoke about Hitler. When I told him about the murder of my little cousins and other small child. His response was:”hanno rigettato il signore” the rejected the Lord and that was their punishment. I 1948 Cardinal Segura in Spain tried to mobilize a Cathoilic brigade to fight alongside the Arabs. The Catholic Church worked on a dual track and there are periods of inter regnum. However we Yidden must work with the Catholic Church to the best of our ability and what is helpful to klal yisroel

While hospitalized in Cortina d’Ampezzo Italy for the sequelae of Concentration Camp . There was also another patient a Salesian Priest on the same Floor who fought along side the partisans we talked about ion, history and the Nazis. I was deadly ill and ate the hospital. He had well to do family and they sent him prosciutto crudo, salami , etc. He told me ” e un peccato per te a mangiare maiale [It is a sin for you to eat pork} He kept a box of Perugina chocolate for me and told “Prima did mangiare far una benedezione” Before you eat make a blessing. When I arrived in Baltimore the Associate did not give me more because I wanted to observe kashrus. Kashrus belonged to the “old country”
