“ I am not #2, however I am a Frum Jew & I do carry a weapon, I served 6 years in the US Army, 3 of which were in Viet Nam and 20 years as a Police Officer, I wear a black belt a gartle and go to a stiebel and if threatened make no mistake I would shoot and shoot to kill. “ No, Murray is right on with this. I know of a shul in the 5 boros that has several NYPD officers and possibly from some members from other agencies. The rav of the shul asks them to carry on Shabbat and Yom Tov... It's pikuach nefesh.

Second, this goes to show that you have to have a plan. I have a friend who lives in the northern suburbs, and he tells me many of the shuls have an usher or guard schedule. Meaning, members of the shul carry an alert airhorn to warn the kehilla of danger and the entire kehilla has a plan to evacuate. Of course the plan also includes calling for police. It's not muksa when it can save a life. ”
