New York - Limbaugh Most Listened To Radio Show In New York City |

And not just because the boisterous conservative radio host is having a verbal food fight right now with the administration of President Barack Obama.
"He's always been one of our top shows," says program director Laurie Cantillo of WABC (770 AM), which carries Rush noon-3 p.m. and remains Limbaugh's flagship station, even though the 58-year-old host does most of his broadcasting now from his home studio in Florida.
In recent Arbitron ratings for the New York metropolitan area, which covers the tristate region and includes about 18 million people, Limbaugh has averaged 4%-5% of the audience.
That does mean, however, that in any given quarter hour, 95%-96% of the area is doing something else.
But by radio standards, that's a very successful number. It means tens of thousands of people are listening to him at any given time. Over the course of a week, that number swells to several hundred thousand.
Not bad for the reddest of red-state guys, a man who frequently voices his suspicion of big-city coastal media capitols and his admiration for their brethren in the middle.
Nationally, Limbaugh's office puts his audience at 20 million per week. The national trade magazine Talkers, which does a semiannual count, estimates his listenership at "more than 14.25 million." John Mainelli, Limbaugh's former program director at WABC, says Limbaugh’s audience has declined from its peak in the 1990s and now stands around "12 million, tops."
That would still probably make him the most popular talk host in the country, though his WABC colleague Sean Hannity has been closing in.
In any case, it's a tricky figure to pin down, because hundreds of small towns around the country are not measured by Arbitron, or any other ratings company. So listenership there has to be estimated. The same holds true to some extent for the Internet and other "non-traditional media" listenership.

If by "love of money" you mean love of capitalism then he would probably agree. I also happen to like capitalism. I certainly lived well under it for almost 50 trs. i workd hard and saved and bebefited from business and medical innovation. In fact, I was pretty happy. Now of coourse I am scared.

Somehow the point I was tryingto make got cut off. I was saying the best thing would be a flat rate tax cut and pay back not borrow more money. I was als o discussing the housing bubble which was forced through President clinton. Also why are the people who created the bubble Barnie Frank and his partner being given the oppurtunites to do so again? Why won't they have to agive accountability for spending the money. (yes John Mccain did try to deal with it and was told their is nothing wrong with it. Yes that is how it is. Anyway I hope he won't hurt the next generations I hope we can get back on our feet and pay back bills not borrow more money.

WE IN THE JEWISH COMMUNITY have the MOST to benefit from this type of research as the first and foremost goal is to eradicate or at least treat and or cure genetic diseases, like parkinsons disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.

Generally, those who see things like Rush also tend to see things like the other conservative personalities. Reason: we are conservative. The difference is that President bush didn't say I won't allow any earmarks and then give them to his parties. President Obama said that he won't give any earmarks and I understand there are over 900 of them becuase Nancy P said she won't back down. Is he afraid of her couldn't he just veto her? Of course not because deep down he also wanted earmarks. they are the entree to the white house for 4 years from now. He is already running for re election/

The only way that would happen was if he was in a high tax bracket attained by working hard and making a lot of money. Any modification of the tax law to the benefit of the "rich," would not "put more money in his pocket", it would allow him to keep more of his own money that he worked for and owned. Let's touch on healthcare. An insurance company is a business. A bunch of people with money which they obtained legally by working hard, want to make a business to make more money. They pool their money, they hire statisticianns and actuaries to make calculations that we can charge so and so, with an expectation to pay out so and so, and we will have so and so left over for profit. The primary purpose of a health insurance company is to make money. The secondary purpose is provide healthcare. Comes along Mr Obama and says he will require healthcare insurers to cover prexisting illness. What does that mean? Let's pretend we're talking Home owners insurance. I call and ask how much is fire insurance on a $500,000 home, the agent says $150 a month. I say fine, I'm going to send you a check for $150 and I want you to send me a check for $500,000 because my house burnt down yesterday. that's what pre-existing conditions means. When faced with such adverse business conditions, insurance companies will go into other businesses where they can make money, their primary function. This will leave the country without healthcare insurance that will then be picked up by the government as it in Canada. In Canada, a doctor tells his patient that you have a malignant brain tumor we need to get a better look at. I schedule you for an RMI in 6 weeks. The Canadian says thanks doc, and comes to America for treatment. When the government takes over healthcare here, where are we going to go?

The argument about embryonic stem cell is crazy. The Federal Law against it was not banning the practice (see Roe v Wade) it was where there would be Federal Funding for it. Pres Bush felt there should not be Federal funding however if private enterprise was interested they could go right ahead.
Of course the left wouldnt let you know that, they wanted you to think it was ourlawed which is simply a LIE.

You are very wrong sir. read up. this is yet ANOTHER case where Jewish Torah Halacha differes very muchly from CHsitian Law. yet most GOP Jews with their heads stuck in talk radio land think that the misinformed misguided idea that somehow the fake talk radio feigned chsitian right religious view is the same as their own jewish one too because they say its "religious" well guess what? it isnt. Orthodox torah judaism is very clear on embryonc stem cell research. Check the ou, they have been very open about this.
and your comment about Fox is just plain sick. try telling that to all of the many kids in our own community who suffer from these diseases. we have made breakthroughs in so many areas due to research.
