Israel – Member Of ‘Mishmeres Hatznius’ Gets 4 Years In Prison

    43

A man walks by graffiti that equates fashion with promiscuity on the walls of the Jewish ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv. [Ilan Mizrahi / The National]Israel – The Jerusalem District Court sentenced Elhanan Buzaglo to four years in prison on Sunday, after finding him guilty of aggravated assault, extortion, aiding an extortion and intimidation. He was also ordered to pay the complainant against him NIS 10,000 (about $2,400) in damages.

Buzaglo, a known member of the Jerusalem haredi neighborhoods’ “Chastity Squad,” pled guilty as part of a plea bargain struck with the State Prosecutor’s Office.

The “chastity squad” is a notorious group operating within the haredi community in the capital with the sole objective of fighting what it deems “female immodesty,” and using methods of violence and intimidation to obtain its goal, if need be.

According to the prosecution, Buzaglo was hired to assault and intimidate a 31-year-old divorcee, who the “Chastity Squad” believed had “defaulted” on the proper haredi lifestyle, and pressure her into leaving her current place of residence.

The State alleged that Buzaglo, along with four accomplices, forced their way into the woman’s home, gagged her, beat her and warned her that if she did not move she would be killed.

    ‘Vile, despicable act’

The prosecution sought a lengthy prison sentences, citing Buzaglo committed “a vile, despicable act for money.”

The defense claimed that community service was in order, since “the ‘chastity squad’ is ideologically motivated, and harsh punishment will not deter its members.” Buzaglo, added the defense, was nothing but a “small bolt” in the machine.

“The defendant’s actions are grave,” noted Judge Noam Sohlberg, presiding over the hearing, in his ruling. “He is a mercenary, known to be prone to violence and he means to beat and injure, threaten and intimidate.

“Nevertheless, it is possible that he himself was a victim of this organization’s violence, which is why he saw fit to join its ranks,” concluded Judge Sohlberg, adding that his assumption led to court to exercise leniency.

So let me get this straight, women who don’t dress modestly cannot live in those neighborhoods for a chusid might “look” at them, but the chusid who might “look” at women is allowed to physically abuse these women? Wow that’s the ultimate example of having priorities messed up! Put these people away for life!

It seems you didn’t read the comment until the end, I clearly wrote that the males involved in the crimes are “GUILTY” But there is a difference between someone sinning for himself by succumbing to his earthly desires against the will of the A-mighty Blessed is he, [and maybe even endangering their wives with diseases which I highly Doubt nowadays] and someone trying to lure people into this as stated in comment 30!
Of course it doesn’t mean that the sinners have an excuse!
I believe anyone that wants to understand can.
As an example having a drug dealer as your neighbor will yo rely on your kids and therefore not care what crimes your neighbor is doing?! This is much worse, because g-d made it more attracting especially by someone who is experienced in luring people to come join them!
Shlomo Hamelech in Mishlei is always warning about a women trying to get men to her [even though it’s only a Parable to other things (evil inclination in general etc.) but the parable also has a truth to it as Rashi states in the beginning of Mishlei].
How many boys and girls went and are going “off” because they can’t control these desires?!
By the Gentiles you and I Both know what goes on in there schools work places and yes even the streets!
As soone very involved in today’s turmoils our youth is going thru, and yes with all the pedophiles between us we are still a far cry ahead of every other group!!

I’m wondering if the same fellows who are out to get the pedophiles are against this hit man! The only sensible answer have to this paradox is that these guys are just against Torah values and not the contrary!
As for you esther Why not punish the children being Molested?!
To get the facts straight this women Is a prostitute in a ultra orthodox neighborhood not waiting for clients to approach her, but going out searching for them, I can suggest to her to move next door to you [of course you will “warn your Husband and Boys to keep away from her”!]
Yes the Torah teaches us what to do with Prostitutes and People that “try” and cause others to sin a “rodef” and one mustn’t wait to get a ruling from a Rabbi but can and should do it themselves Or of course “hire a HIT MAN” .And yes in my Opinion Both Pedophiles and This Prostitute belong in this category.
Of course the Yungeleit and Bochurim deserve a “punishment” as well be they “only” sinned themselves and we don’t have a Beis din to take care of that [because today’s court system only judges and punishes for Physical Matters and only when harm was or could have been caused to another being, as opposed to the Sanhedrin that punished for Spiritual Matters caused even by oneself to oneself]
Following your Logic Why did the Biblical “Pinchas get praised for “killing Kuzvi The daughter of the King of Midyan, What did she do wrong [I understand that you agree that Zimri or in our case the Yungeleit and Bochurim, were deserving of the penalty!]
While I do agree fully that the aggressive violent approach that many so called “charedim” use should be fully and totally unaccepted and abolished from our community, Just like not every kiss is appropriate so too is not every Beating inappropiate.

All we see from the article is that she’s divorced and didn’t meet their particular standard of tnius. That could mean a sleeve 1 inch shorter then they accept, a color or material they find objectionable and nothing more. What business do they have laying a hand on her?

Sorry to argue with everybody . I think he is right . It’s about time someone does something about this preetzis. It’s there neighborhood and they have there way of serving Hashem for centeries , suddenly these people come in and dress and dance and talk in an exact opposite way that they want to keep there own neighborhood. Sometimes you have to violate the hlucha a bit ( mabey they were wearing gloves) for the bigger picture.

If someone is doing illegal stuff in your neighborhood… call the police.
If you don’t like the law, vote to change it.
If you believe all the men are victims and all the women are machshefos, perhaps you should see a therapist.

If she would be with men it would have been in the article. Do not defend these rascals. They are a bunch of idiots. However the pity is that this bugZalo is only the guy “they” sent, he probably has a package of his own, and he did this to clean himself for those rascals. Then, they gave out his name, because he’s a shaigets anyway. The main problemis the “senders” who sent him, not bugzaloh. And they are still around.

We have laws, and we must follow them. The only recognized bodies with the power to coerce physically are the police.

The rest of us can coerce all we like – socially. We can ignore people, or argue with them, or disagree with them. But lifting a finger because we don’t like how someone dresses or carries themselves is ILLEGAL.

Chareidim who do not like it can change the law to allow for different rules within specific areas, and enforcement of those rules.

Breaking into someone’s house and assaulting them is nothing short of evil. It is not the work of Pinchas — it would be analogous to Pinchas if someone were to kill a couple fornicating in public (and one of them non-Jewish to boot!). NOBODY is alleging that this woman was doing anything of the kind.

Lawbreakers should be punished. Society must be upheld, and we must not let goons run our communities.

Is this a joke? 42 comments and nobody has any facts. What was the tznius issue? Did she decide to wear sleeves that end above the wrist? Did she show her bare feet? What did she do?

Secondly, whatever her transgression was, she did not hurt anyone else physically. Was kiruv tried first? Did anyone befriend her to help her?

How self-righteous are some people. They worry so much about word getting out about a possible child molester that we not make a chilul H’…. but this is just perfectly fine. Wake up and realize that non-frum Yidden and the rest of the world can accept that bad things happen and evil people can exist even in our community. What they will never accept (and therefore a chilul H’ occurs) is when we deal with it in disgraceful ways. Beating a woman for any reason is a chilul H’. Just because it is possibly ALLOWED under halacha does not mean that it should be DONE. This goes back to the molestation cover-ups that have taken place. It is the cover-up that the world finds more disgraceful than the act itself.
