London – Rabbi Spooked by Ghost Seeks Help

    49

London – The RCE’s (Rabbinical Centre of Europe) Response department in Israel, which provides halachic answers to the questions of European rabbis, was approached by Rabbi Levy Yitzhak Raskin of London on behalf of a fellow rabbi who asked not to be identified, who sought the center’s help in getting rid of a ghost he said was dwelling in his new residence.

“In the last months he has noticed a foreign presence in his new home,” Raskin described in his letter. “Closed windows have been opened; he’s been hearing knocking, and so forth.”

According to Raskin, when the distraught rabbi turned to his congregation for help, “they confirmed that these strange events have occurred in the past, and estimated that the noises were caused by the ghost of a rabbi… who was the synagogue’s first rabbi and passed away 40 years ago, and is now seeking tikkun for his spirit.”

According to the congregation members, the founding rabbi would occasionally visit the house in order to see how his community was doing.

Upon receiving this query RCE member Rabbi Mordechai Biton immediately forwarded it to Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar and Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri.

Rabbi Amar ruled that two tikkun prayers – one for the house and the other for the deceased rabbi’s soul – should be recited in order to resolve the matter.

Rabbi Batzri offered to include the rabbi’s name in his yeshiva’s biannual tikkun prayers for the dead, or to instruct Rabbi Raskin how to hold such a prayer in London if necessary. “If this doesn’t help, it’s a sign that this is a different ghost that may be misleading them, and we’ll discuss how to handle this later on.”

Don’t make fun of this. There are real ghosts. There are lots of entities all around us which we can’t see and if we could we’d be constantly terrified of them.I’ve read documented stories of haunted homes. The goyim use tumah to excorcise them.

there is no need to be so skeptical and cycnical about these things. There are things in the world that we cannot see with einei basar vadam. Just because you can’t phsycially see it, doesn’t mean that it’s not there. And in Yiddishkeit, there is definitely a concept of neshamos needing a tikkun, or lehavdil, shin daleds.

    To #5 :

Before you ridicule our Torah in public, go learn our 4,000-year-old wisdom of Chassidus and Kabbalah and prove to us why you are correct and our Sages are not.

It is always the ignoramuses like you who make the most arrogant, boldest lies in public.

    You are a fool.

Rabbi Raskin should ask Rabbi Herson who supposedly had a similar story with the Yeshivah when it was in Newark and the Rebbe gave an answer.

There is a famous story with the Alter Rebbes father Boruch I believe and shaidim in a house that he came across where they where told to bring in a minyan a Torah etc…. if you need more info I can look it up

“London – The RCE’s (Rabbinical Centre of Europe) Response department in Israel, which provides halachic answers to the questions of European rabbis”

No it doesn’t. The Conference of Europe Rabbis does, and has done for over half a century. This ridiculous organisation is a collection of fringe malcontents, the majority of whom get their inspiration from putting questions in books of letters (aka Derishas Meisim).

Shaidim are not ghosts, they are born like humans & have children like humans theycould be mazikim, there is a melech hasheidim called Ashmodai, it is in the gemorah seventh [machlokes Rasi Tosfos sixth or seventh ] perek of Gitin. There is a medrash in beraishis that some were born from Odom Harishon, when he was 130 years in water after the Cheit & Li..lis was nizra from him.[others call those lillim]
Ghosts are Neshomos who need a tikun, there were stories of them as recent as the Chazon Ish, there is a printed story, about a living person in Beer Sheva who saw his deciesed father & went to the Chazon Ish, who told him, that he had been to him too. Ask the Satmar Dayan Klein who heard the story from the baal uvda himself.
A dibuk is also a neshoma who needs a tikun, also happened with the talmidei Chofetz Chaim , Reb Naftoli & Reb Elchonon.
So although I don’t know what is happening there, it is possible, I also knew Levi Yitchock as a kid, a real fine person, I think he is married to Sudak, I doubt he is lying or imagining although a devout Lubavitcher for Doros, he just isn’t that type.
BTW I am not Lubavitch myself.

As of 2009 no real proof of ghosts exists, yet there are many cases of proven liars, so umm yea I would go with what we know to be than to what we have no clue about.

IMO it’s all a big April fools joke.

#43 shaydin are what we call gohsts….neshama belo guf, so isnt that ghosts ..so call it what you want…that story is in the sefer ‘sheal avicha veyagetcha, ,among other such simililar stories often told by the ‘magid of yerushulayim, hagaon ,rav shwadron, zt’l
