London – U.S. radio broadcaster Michael Savage are among those barred from entering the U.K. for allegedly stirring-up hatred and fostering extremism, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said.

Savage, whose real name is Michael Alan Weiner, has authored books such as “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder” and was one of 22 foreigners named by Smith as ineligible to visit Britain. She published a list of those banned between October 2008 and March 2009 for “fostering extremism or hatred.”
“Coming to the U.K. is a privilege, and I refuse to extend that privilege to individuals who abuse our standards and values to undermine our way of life,” Smith said in an e-mail today. “I will not hesitate to name and shame those who foster extremist views. They are not welcome here.”

Would EY allow some antisemite or white racist to come into the country to give speeches? I doubt it.

Why do yiddin seem to be embracing these racist and right wing fanatic radio talk show hosts with such intensity? We have been the victims of similiar rhetoric in the past and it would not take much for us to be at the receiving end again if conditions were to change. I’m not sure if banning their entry into the country really makes sense but we should speak out against their poisonous rhetoric.

The UK is the is most cowardly and disgraceful country. I looked on their list of 22 people banned for “fostering extremism or hatred” and did not see one leader of hamas or hezbollah. I didnt even see any al qaida leaders banned! But I am not surprised considering that Osama would feel right at home in Englan, which is now the capital of islamic fundamentalism in Europe.
I listen to Savage almost every day ( not that I agree with him on everything, but I find him entertaining) and while he says offensive things he does not foster hatred. Yes he does speak out very harshly against illegal aliens and I find somethings he says offensive but he does not foster hatred.

Savage is entertaining and he is very bias. I do agree with most of his comments, however he somtimes gets out of line. For instance when he had the discussion about autistic children, saying that most of these kids are plain spoiled brats.
I work with autistic children and their families. I can attest to the fact, They are not spoiled, and their families go through hell trying their best to raise them and at the same time raising a family.
This is just one example of his extremism. THere have been other instances.
But to be put into a group of mostly muslim sounding names and no extreme terrorists is reprehensible!

Most of the people on the list seem to be of Muslim heritage. Others listed are the founder of Stormfront & Fred Phelps and his daughter (known for picketing soldiers’ funerals–too bad we can’t ban those nuts from this country).That’s not great company for Savage to be in.
To those complaining about names omitted from the list: I’d guess that Osama bin Laden isn’t welcome in England either. And Charles Manson has just been denied parole again, so I doubt they’re expecting him soon either. For that matter, they left off the Unabomber & Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, but I doubt that either of them are welcome either.

Savage is probably the most brilliant man on radio. He is also very spiritual. Although he is not formally religious, he is an avid student of Tanach, and it is fascinating to hear him apply Tanach to current events. He fights with great strength, emotion and intelligence, for Israel, the Jewish people and for traditional moral values.
The U.K. should be ashamed of itself. Indeed, that is why the U.K. has ceased being a world power.
It is also important to note the UK’s hypocrisy in refusing to do anything about Islamic Imams that preach hatred in its own country.

Why is everyone making this into something it isn’t. It is not a debate about liberal vs. conservative. It is not a debate about Muslims either.
This is a debate about freedom. This is a debate about being able to speak your mind freely. The idea of free thought.
Yes, free speech also means having to listen to hateful or abusive speech. However, Michael Savage does neither. I don’t care of his radio show (or any of the others on the left or right), but that is just my opinion. However, 99% of what he talks about is political opinion and social commentary that is not particularly radical. He is no more radical than the other comedians on the radio so why single him out?
I will admit, that part of the problem may be the way he says what he says as opposed to WHAT he says. If I am being fair, his tone and choice of words COULD be perceived as hostile to someone not listening to the actual message being delivered . Savage is known for going a bit over the top with his rhetoric, but certainly nothing that deserves being placed on a no-entry list with the likes of Fred Phelps!
The fact that they would put Savage on the short list with Fred Phelps is insulting to me as an American.
Phelp’s church is monitored as a HATE GROUP in this country. He is one of the most outspoken antisemites in this nation. If you don’t know who Fred Phelps is, the wikipedia article on him is the only place I will suggest reading about him as I would never tell anyone to go to his website (which has a particularly offensive name). This man is a piece of human filth who should be spit on and humiliated at every turn. He protests the funerals of soldiers who give their lives for our country. This man praised Saddam Hussein! I have been listening to Michael Savitch for quite a while. He is a devot believer in morals and traditions. He never had a religious upbringing, which is to his detriment. England is an anti Sematic country and now is rejected free speech. I am not surprised this has happened. Hashem is wearing the coat of all the atrocities the nations are commiting towards the Jews. The day is coming soon. We need only to be aware of what is happening but know that Hashem is in control.

I completely agree – as much as I am a Frum Jew and politically conservative – Michael Savage is nothing but a racist, extremist fanatic and I completely agree with the decision not to let him into the UK. People seem to think that because a talk show host is politically conservative therefore everything he says is true and should be supported – news flash – they are as intellectually dishonest (very often more so) as their liberal counterparts. I’ve never seen so much whining and twisting of facts and ridiculous rhetoric. It’s sad that most people just follow like lemmings and buy the lies and nonsense these guys spout, hook, line and sinker. He does not encourage breaking any laws or supporting unlawful groups, so there is no basis to get rid of him.

Moral relativism is rampant in Europe, so that they equate a controversial outspoken talk-show host with a terrorist supporter. We have to be VIGILANT that this trend not infect America; should it, it would spell the end of the USA as we know it.
