Jerusalem – Vatican Asked to Remove Magen David from Ambulance

    54

Jerusalem – An Foreign Ministry official revealed that the Papal delegation asked that the Magen David Adom ambulance provided by Israel during the Pope’s trip in Israel should have all Jewish symbols removed. The Israelis acquiesced, sending an intensive care unit without a Jewish star on it. The words “Magen David Adom” (Red Jewish Star) were also removed

The Vatican claimed that its request was ostensibly made to conceal the fact that the Pope was being accompanied by an ambulance so his followers wouldn’t think he was ill.

Nine years ago, during a previous Papal visit, a similar request prompted a High Court appeal against it, which was summarily dismissed.

When visiting other countries, the Pope has not requested that emergency vehicles remove their symbols.

Other reports claim that the Rabbi of the Kosel, Rav Shmuel Rabinowitz, requested the Pope not to take along his staff with a cross when visiting the Kosel. The Vatican is said to have agreed until it was leaked out to the press, after which the Pope said he would come with the staff.

Both the Vatican and the Foreign Ministry deny the above.

Why is this so newsworthy….they don’t want people to think that the new pope has been taken ill while he travels in EY. I’m sure everyone will be screaming that the government is capitulating to the Vatican on all these issues and there is somthing wrong when he shows up to daven at the Kosel with his Tzelem but asks that the magen david come off the ambulance.

“Its request was ostensibly made to conceal the fact that the Pope was being accompanied by an ambulance.” So when it has no magen dovid no one will realize it’s an ambulance? Someone should find a better excuse for them next time.

And after kneeling and giving in to the pope on every aspect, the Zionist will continue to sing “Lheyot Am Chofshi B’artzeinu”?? To Be Free In Our Own Land??. In my opinion, Israel showed complete submissiveness, how embarrassing! The Arabs are watching it very closely; Israel has shown that it kneels submissively!

What?????????? But riding from Hadassah Ein Kerem to the City Center yesterday I was greeted by posters of His Ugliness and worse, THE PAPAL FLAG hanging from lampposts all along the major routes? I will be a virtual prisoner of this Nazi for next week because of the changes in traffic. Monday and Tuesday will be the worst. I probably won’t be able to leave the house. I expect a big earthquake sometime next week. G-d forbid.
Well al I can say is look up! Moshiach will be here soon.

For a change the Israeli government are polite! That’s the right way of handling the case. The pope is to big to argue and to fight about those stupid things.

They should dis-invite the Pope. What a pompus, self-important jerk! Who is he to tell any country what to do? He wants to come EY, he should respect the culture and society of EY or DON’T COME. Who needs this antisemite anyway?

I have a great idea, why don’t we just tell the ambulance crew to stay away as well. That way if this Nazi needs medical attention then he won’t have to suffer the indignity of having it be performed by Jews as well.

If the avi avos hatuma does not like the Magen Dovid on his ambulance then don’t sent one with him. these hebrew speaking gentiles (as Rabbi Kahane, Z”TL referred to them) who run Israel have no backbone.

This anti-semite pope will make it seem that it was a visit to Christian holy places, which are illegally occupied by some country.

So sad for us. Why do we feel we have to appease this Rasha (and that is what he is)? He wouldn’t take off his cross at the Kotel. I wish our “leaders” would feel some Jewish pride.

WHAT CHUTZPAH! Let the Pope remove the tzelem from his neck before he makes such requests. Unlike the tzelem (sometimes with a corpse mounted) I don’t think a star can be offensive to anyone.

I am certain that if this Nazi pope goes to Saudi Arabia and they demand (not ask) that he not bring his staff along when he goes to their holy places he will readily acquiesce. I srael should tell him to stay home or do it their way. The ambulance should not be retrofitted to accommodate this jerk.

The ambulance should keep the Magen David since the Pope keeps his corpus. If he doesn’t like it, go back to Rome.

Its all about the money!!! Don’t you get it? The christians tourists bring in billions of dollars to the tourism industry and the israeli economy after this putz visits israel millions more will follow realizing that it is safe now to go. Israel won’t risk him cancelling his trip its all about the money

Do all Christians remove theire tzalems when visiting the Kosel? I doubt it. Still, they should not be giving into him, and the Vatican should pay for all expenses Israel incurs by this visit.

While I do agree that the Pope’s request is a major Chutzpah, I don’t believe Israel has much of a choice. It wouldn’t take much to inflame the bigotry of Catholics found around the world. France, Spain, Brazil, Mexico etc are almost entirely Cathlic. There is nothing good to be gained, aside from pride, by not honoring this Galach’s requests.

What incredible arrongance. Wouldn’t his holeyness Popus Pompous Benedictus prefer a Red Crescent ambulance from Lebanon? Tell him to bring along some alcohol to sterilize their unwashed instruments.

Do you all still think Rabbi Rabinowitz was going overboard with the tzelem thing? #6 has it right. Od nefesh yehudi homiyah.

Suddenly the israelies are so polite. Everyone remembers the story with the Kodesh from Mumbei Rav Teitelbowm when their family requested not to wrap his body with an israeli flag because of his / and their strict Torah opposition againt the government and how their request was cold blooded rejected. Why because these poor people didn’t have the power the Pope has???? How shameful!!!

How would the Pope like it, if a great rabbi visisted the Vatican, and asked to have the cross removed from the Pope’s limo, because the rabbi is offended by it?
