Jerusalem - Vatican Asked to Remove Magen David from Ambulance |
|
The Vatican claimed that its request was ostensibly made to conceal the fact that the Pope was being accompanied by an ambulance so his followers wouldn't think he was ill.
Nine years ago, during a previous Papal visit, a similar request prompted a High Court appeal against it, which was summarily dismissed.
When visiting other countries, the Pope has not requested that emergency vehicles remove their symbols.
Other reports claim that the Rabbi of the Kosel, Rav Shmuel Rabinowitz, requested the Pope not to take along his staff with a cross when visiting the Kosel. The Vatican is said to have agreed until it was leaked out to the press, after which the Pope said he would come with the staff.
Both the Vatican and the Foreign Ministry deny the above.

Why is this so newsworthy....they don't want people to think that the new pope has been taken ill while he travels in EY. I'm sure everyone will be screaming that the government is capitulating to the Vatican on all these issues and there is somthing wrong when he shows up to daven at the Kosel with his Tzelem but asks that the magen david come off the ambulance.

And after kneeling and giving in to the pope on every aspect, the Zionist will continue to sing "Lheyot Am Chofshi B'artzeinu"?? To Be Free In Our Own Land??. In my opinion, Israel showed complete submissiveness, how embarrassing! The Arabs are watching it very closely; Israel has shown that it kneels submissively!

U want to know why because when we asked him to take off his cross when he comes to the kotel he whined about it. And guess what the so called Jewish liberals anti smites said oh you cant ask a pope to remove his cross. You know all people that support Israeli are the same hypocrites it all speaks for it self including gay parade. Selling pork. Not keeping shabbat. Just read hertzels books and then tell me what's the problem. Zionniszem and satmar both have nothing to do with Judaism its a colt like jihadisim so its ok when the pope ym"s wants all letterings with Jewish symbols removed. I bet they gave into it like its ok for him not to take his cross.

"Its request was ostensibly made to conceal the fact that the Pope was being accompanied by an ambulance." So when it has no magen dovid no one will realize it's an ambulance? Someone should find a better excuse for them next time.

1. you REALLY need to learn how to spell correctly. I have seen better spelling and grammar by satmar chasidim.

While I do agree that the Pope's request is a major Chutzpah, I don't believe Israel has much of a choice. It wouldn't take much to inflame the bigotry of Catholics found around the world. France, Spain, Brazil, Mexico etc are almost entirely Cathlic. There is nothing good to be gained, aside from pride, by not honoring this Galach's requests.

They don't, and it's not practical to make them. But they're also not filmed and made a fuss of, and covered by the world media. So there's no comparison. The Pope should not be allowed to come to the kosel unless he removes or hides his cross. (Even then I'd rather keep him away, since he will pray to his avoda zara, not to Hashem. But that's not practical.)

He is not a Nazi, and never was one. Stop being so ignorant. Or at least shut up so nobody knows how ignorant you are.
This is an unreasonable request and should be refused. In general he should not be made such a fuss of, and he shouldn't be welcome in Israel at all unless he acknowledges our right to the land that Hashem gave us. But that's all to do with his job, not his person. There's no reason to attack him in person. He's no worse than the last Pope.

He's not a rasha, at least not as a person. He's a good person, an intellectual, and a philosemite. He's oved avodah zarah, of course, but lots of good people are. The problem is his position: Avi Avos Hatum'oh.
