Jaeger was granted unprecedented access to Hitler from 1936 to 1945, Life says. He traveled with Hitler and chronicled, in color, the Fuhrer and his confidants at small gatherings, public events and private moments. Life says few photographers were using color at that time and describes Jaeger as an early adopter.
American soldiers found Jaeger's transparencies in a suitcase at the end of the war, Life says. Jaeger was able to distract the soldiers with a bottle of cognac and retrieve the 2,000 slides. He put them in glass jars and buried them for 10 years, then stored them in a bank vault until 1965, when he sold them to Life.

As a counter-offensive to the communism we will have to live through for the next 3 1/2 years, perhaps?
Or to remind everyone that he didn't finish the job. Only 6 million. Hmmmm.

Life should be embarressed for paying for this. To let hitler's personal photographer prosper from his work is uconscinable. The US should have comfisicated the photos and sent them to a meuseum so we can spit on them as we walk by.
