Washington - U.S. Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor hit a casino jackpot for more than $8,000 last year.
Financial disclosure forms released Friday show the judge listed $8,283 in jackpot game winning on November 23. The forms do not say where or how Sotomayor won the money. It was listed under non-investment income.
The White House said she won the money in a Florida casino while gambling with her mother.
Sotomayor must fill out disclosure forms yearly as a judge on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York.
U.S. Appeals judges made $179,500 in 2008. Sotomayor's forms show she made an extra $25,830 as a lecturer at Columbia University Law School in New York City.

But my humble opinion is that she is a Role model! She had as a kid diabetes, and she made it through the highest level.

Does she decide her cases by the roll of the dice too? Anyone involved in litigation, either criminal or civel, will tell you that all litigation is basically a crap shoot. I doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, innocent or guilty. The outcome is always about 50/50.

Only a professional gambler is posul. There's nothing wrong with a little recreational gambling, once in a while. There are some worrying things in her record, but this isn't one of them.

I agree with Millhouse that she may have some baggage but having won some money at bingo, lottery or whatever, is not an issue. Every once in a while Millhouse, you make such common sense statements, it helps me forget the 90 percent of the other stuff you say that is so crazy.

Obama chose a candidate that would be difficult for anyone to publicly oppose. Her record is troublesome, her life is in shambles, and is far from the quality expected from a supreme court justice.

Btw, milhous is not Right even in this issue! Because you find in gamora two reasons why a gambler is not kosher of life evidence: #1 because he/she is a "low life" of not being occupied with a normal living; #2 because he is a criminal he stoles money of others. So milhous is not right with #2.

obama's praising her life experience which is supposed to help her be more sympathetic to the underdog. (that, btw is absolutely forbidden to a judge, who must rule according to law, not while biased with sympathy).she's not married, has no children...what life experience? she hasn't even lived!

She's a criminal? She "stoles money of others"? Whose money, exactly, did she steal? The casino's?
