Monroe, NY - Wal-Mart Undergoes $4.5M Renovation |
|

The 8-year-old Wal-Mart in Monroe will undergo a revamping that will include updated flooring, shelving, and a new layout. The store will stay open during construction that’s expected to be finished by August.
About 55 of the new full-time and part-time positions have already been filled, according to manager Scott Satterfield, who said the employees are “doing whatever we have to do for the remodeling.”
“Most of those folks will be kept on after the project is complete,” Satterfield said. “After that, they’ll be absorbed into other positions, like cashiers, unloaders and sales-floor help.”
The renovation requires work inside and outside the store, he added, including painting, repairing sidewalks and curbs, and “anything physically that needs to be updated outside.”
The store will remain open during the renovations, and Satterfield said most of the work will take place during the overnight hours so shoppers will not be inconvenienced.
Every department will be updated, including shelving, signing, flooring and the selection of merchandise. There will also be a new layout, aligning the most frequently purchased products.
Satterfield said the new design, which includes wider aisles and easy-to-read signs, “is based on responses from surveys and customer focus groups.”
The grand opening is slated for August, said Satterfield, “right around the back-to-school season.”

I was there last week. The first thing I noticed was that they got brand new shopping cart. They also got a shopping cart with a bench for the children. Once I started shopping I could not find anything in the store. They made a complete new layout and everything is slowly being moved to different sections. Once it's all done I'm sure it will be beautiful. It is the best store after all! They always have the best prices!! For me it's a mini getaway. Make sure to stop in on your way to the country.....

I will, when they stop overcharging and do away with their strict no return policy.

WalMart is one of the best companies in the world. WalMart is the #1 retailer in most of the country. I am happy to support them here in FL. The idea behind WalMart is to "make it work" for everyone including consumers and employees. The company works very hard to negotiate deals with manufacturers and distributors, much like the great business men and women at B&H. Good business benefits everyone.

where did the fabric department go?
It is very much needed in the area. Please reconsider bringing it back!
