Charles taylor
His wife Victoria Taylor told BBC Network Africa 
show that her husband has not renounced Christianity, but only wanted to take on Judaism.
Asked what they discuss when she visits her husband, she said anytime she visited, they would talk about religion, God and their children.
In an answer to what led him to turn to Judaism, she said, “because of the difficulties, he always wanted to know God in a very different and special way. And because we talk of his childhood a lot, he as a child asked himself lots of questions about Christianity, the whole thing about Christ. Of course he still does believe in Christ,” she said.
She said Mr. Taylor wanted to understand how so many things in life happen the way they do. “When he got to The Hague, he got to know that he really wanted to convert to Judaism and that’s what he has done.”
Asked if he has rejected Christianity, she said, “no, no, no, he hasn’t rejected Christianity, he has always been a Christian.” Adding, “he has just decided to become a Jew, to follow the true religion, according to him he wants to know deeply about God.”
Mrs. Taylor said she believes her husband’s new faith would help him in his defence because she has seen transformation in him and she knows he wants to serve God.
“I believe God is doing this and God has opened his eyes through Judaism. But I have always told him, I will remain a Christian and you can be a Jew.”
Mrs. Taylor said, she knows Mr. Taylor has shown a lot remorse for what has happened in Liberia during the war.
She said he is doing well and looks good, even though he is in jail.
Charles Taylor is being tried by the Special Court For Sierra Leone for crimes against humanity for his involvement in and support for the brutal civil war in Sierra Leone.

Usualy they convert to islam in jail. Why is this guy different. Also it doesn't say who converted him to judaism while allowing him to remain a christian. And for good measure if his reasoning was because he now discovered the truth why would he still hold on to the false.

Nobody converted him. Nowhere in the article does it say that anyone converted him; and in any case it would be impossible without letting him to be circumcised, and again to take a trip to the mikveh. And if he still believes that Jesus is God, then nobody will convert him. Even if he sincerely drops Xianity and wants to become Jewish, I don't know why anyone would agree to do it for him; why do we need mass-murderers among us? It's not as if he has a right to become Jewish, any more than he has a right to become French.

Doesnt everyone know this is true tikkun olam? I mean we have a former mass murderer who happens to be a man of color who still believes in yuske and calls himself Jewish. LOL If this wasnt ever a reason why we need to have high standards for conversion and why we have to vet people who say they are Jewish then I dont know what is! Im joking about this man but the truth is this is a very real problem... Everyone wants to become a Jew these days... Its important that the fence around Torah is kept high if not raised higher!

According to Sanhedrin 96, Nebuzaradan was an even worse mass-murderer, but repented and converted.

There are various groups of black hebrews that practice the written torah and not the oral torah. They refer to themselves as Jewish and refer to their leaders as rabbis. They revere yeshu but they do not believe in the trinity and I think they do not believe he was the messiah. I have a hunch that is the form of "Judaism" that this fellow has embraced.

Were the beis din who converted him right to do so? Did they even know who he was? The gemara doesn't say. I think if I were on a beis din he applied to, I'd have turned him down.

Chazal didn't question any Beit Din from the time of Yirmiyahu and Yechezkel. Should we?

On the contrary, Chazal called many such batei din "shel hedyotot", and disapproved of their conversions.

I think many people are missing the obvious: this guy has so little notion of what Judaism is, that he thinks he can "convert" by himself, simply by deciding that the Jewish religion is true. That's how one becomes a Xian or a Moslem, so he thinks that's how one can become a Jew.
