Harold "Hal" Turner of North Bergen waived extradition Monday and posted $25,000 bail. He had been in custody since being arrested Thursday by North Bergen police at the request of the Connecticut State Capitol Police.
Connecticut authorities say they plan to charge him with inciting injury to persons or property.
Police there say the 47-year-old Turner, who holds far-right views, urged blog readers to "take up arms" against two lawmakers who introduced a controversial bill on Catholic parish finances.
Turner's lawyer, Michael Orozco, says the case is about freedom of speech

Hal Turner is a notorious anti semite and Holocaust denier. Unfortunately, at one time, he was also good friends with Sean Hannity and appeared on his programs as well.

Hopefully, this story will serve as a warning to some regular posters on VIN who believe it is their first amendment right to make these kind of statements supporting violence against public officials as long as they themselves don't make a direct threat. It is not ok and those kinds of statements should be rejected by moderators on these blogs.

The story referred to here was about the arrest after Obama's inaugeral of someone in one of the western states who advocated violence against the President-elect and there were some lunatics here who indicated they thought it was legal to make such statements. There is one regular poster who I will not name who regularly expresses such views. Kol Hakovod to VIN for keeping these types of messages to a minimium and maintaining VIN's reputation for open dialogue.

The first amendment remains the same, no matter how many times you spout your ignorance. You really ought to talk to a first amendment lawyer before you comment again.
If the description of the grounds for this arrest is accurate, then those responsible face Bivens lawsuits and they will lose their houses. Turner is an antisemitic nutcase, but unless his words were INTENDED to cause someone IMMEDIATELY to go out and harm these lawmakers, and his words were also LIKELY to have that effect, his speech is protected. All three elements are necessary to sustain a charge of incitement.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech for EVERYONE. This includes filth like this moron.
As for his association with Hannity, why does that surprise you? Hannity also likes Pat Buchanan. Are you one of those Jews who thinks these fundamentalist xian nut cases really "love Israel" so it is OK to listen to them? Don't be so blind. Fundamentalist xians only want Jews to go to Israel so they can be slaughtered in the "end of days" and bring about their phony messiah, and for no other reason.
The fact that Yidden actually listen to these fundamentalists really scares me. It shows how little people know of the fundamentalist xian world. They are just as bad, if not worse than the left-wing liberals. At least with the liberals they put their views right out in the open.... these people use manipulation and pretty words to make you think they are with you. Their only motivation is to advance the fundamentalist xian agenda.

I have never heard of this guy. as far as people having rights... u can't attack our elected officals with verbal threats and think oh its ok b/c I have a first admendement rights. exspeicaly our president. no matter wat your personal feelings are. all the different agencies aren't taking chances. u threaten the pres enough they going to come after u and your rights r going to go away very quick. and that is the way it should be

Without going in too far, I would rather listen to Sean Hannity who is a goy, than Steve Malzberg who is a yid but Mechalel Shabbos Befarhesia, and eats neveilos utreifos...

Yes, actually, you can stand on your rights and win. You can attack elected officials, you can advocate violence against them, and you can win a lawsuit against any official who dares to "come after u" for it, especially one who admits an intention to make your rights "go away very quick". Such arrogant officials run the risk of finding themselves homeless. That's what's so great about America.
