The alliance of Republicans and two dissident Democrats is asking for the resignation of the secretary of the Senate, a position appointed by the Democratic conference that appears to have lost its majority.
The secretary holds the chamber's keys.
Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. is the new head of the Senate if the overthrow stands, as many now expect.
He says that he if can't get the keys to the Senate he will open the session Wednesday in another room, or even a park.
Mr. Espada, a Bronx Democrat, says he's sure the coup is final and will withstand any legal or political challenge.

New Yorker??? This happened during elections as well when they shut off the lights on the hill, and pulled out the plug from c-span so that cannot record the Republicans standing up to the democrats, its 99% one-way always the democrats being little babies.

That's right. New York needs Pataki back. Were off with two Governors since he left and look where we are. And Spitzer was supposed to be a reformer, one who came from AG office. We need the republicans back in the game, otherwise we'll have dirty and childish tricks every day in Albany

Obstruction of Justice?
Why, is the senate chamber a crime scene (more than usual)?

Reply to #8. You are forgetting when jumping Jim Jeffords of Vermont left the Republican party, in mid-term a few years back and handed control of the U.S. Senate to the Democrats. That was perfectly legal of course, right Mr. Liberal Democrat. So how does the shoe feel when it's on the other foot?

To #12 There is more to this than meets the eye. Tom G. did not want a raise in taxes so he switches to those two jokers and to the GOP so that his taxes will not go higher. There still is more coming out. It is not so kosher as you think!!

What's wrong with that? Of course he doesn't want taxes to be raised; no sane person does - they're way too high as it is. If he was able to broker a deal that will save us from high taxes, he's done a public service.
