Monsey, NY - Allegations that Monsey voters were enticed to vote in exchange for ice cream machines are being investigated by the Rockland District Attorney's Office.

District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said today that his office was investigating the matter after a referral from the state Board of Elections.

The investigation stems from a 2005 primary election, during which an advertisement in Community Connections, a Monsey weekly newspaper, promised free ice cream makers to the first 2,000 Monsey residents to vote.

State election law states that it's a felony to entice voters with "money or other valuable consideration," even if votes are not sought for a particular candidate.

It's B.S. If it were true I would have been the first on line. Here you see preserve ramapo really scraping the bottom of the barrel. There should a thousand blacks in jail for this one, for every Yid suspected. When Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson has a barbeque to "get out the vote" it's civic duty, when a Yid does it (without specifying a candidate) it becomes a federal crime. Hypocrisy.

What the !@%$$##% are you talking about? No one is going to jail. This appears to me to be an innocent violation of a not too well known provision in the election law. My guess is that the CC thought they were doing a good thing by encouraging people to go out and vote. I'm sure that justice will prevail, a reasonable fine, if any penalty, will be imposed and Zeh Hu.

THis is a true baloney(or ice cream) story. I was for sure one of the first voters..and I read the CC from cover to cover EVERY WEEK! There was NEVER such and ad...they are trying to find excuses as to why P. Ramapo had an almost invisible voter turnout, and will have the same in the future (Bruce Levine, Im talking to YOU!!) When we vote, we do so to have our voice heard and make a difference..if I want an ice cream maker, I'll buy my own!! This is beyond silliness...
