Andrique Baron of Elmont, Long Island, was found guilty today in Manhattan of computer tampering, bribe receiving and falsifying business records.

Baron was convicted on most of the 36 charges and faces up to four years in prison when sentenced by Justice Thomas Farber on July 13. Prosecutor Jonathan Lenzer said he will recommend up to 16 years.

The 36-year-old Baron was Touro's admissions director at its Manhattan School of Career and Applied Studies. He was one of four Touro officials accused of accepting thousands of dollars from six students and non-students. One case is pending.

Very easily. Further, depending what type of employment you want or if you want to get into grad school or a field that requires certain licenses, they will not accept the grad's statement that they have a degree from Truro, but instead will require a certified transcript or other confirmation. Scandals like this make it more important that employers take proper steps to confirm a job applicant's background and training.

This is a big blow for Touro graduates who are trying to get jobs or get into a decent graduate school. When a grad school hears an applicant is from Touro, they think "did he earn this diploma and these good grades, or did he pay for them"? I personally know a number of brilliant Touro students who can't seem to get accepted at a decent grad school, even with excellent grades. Now we know why.

This is pure nonsense. My friends who graduated from Touro in Flatbush are now enrolled at Columbia Law School,NYU Law and Fordham, and another one has been accepted to the University of Pennsylvania Dental School for Fall 2009. I know of two other alumni who are partners at Deloitte Those who can't get in have probably bad test scores on the GRE ,LSAT,or GMAT and some do very poorly on interviews which kills your hiring chances. To anonymous: Get out of your fantasy universe.

Why "oh veh"? A sheigetz got caught running a forgery operation, and will now go to prison. Good. The fact that he is not from ours, and his victim is, just makes it better.

That is hardly true. If a school has a choice, they will take a student from a school with a better reputation. The facts are the facts. I have seen it myself. Some students can't even get interviews as some admission committees tend to overlook Touro students.
