New York, NY - New data shows the number of civilian complaints made against New York City police continues to rise.
The number of complaints made to the city's Civilian Complaint Review Board in the first half of 2009 rose 11% from this time last year. That's an increase of more than 300 complaints. Complaints range from problems with an officer's conduct to allegations of abuse and brutality. Most of the cases are still being reviewed.
NYPD statistics released Wednesday by the New York Civil Liberties Union show more officers are being monitored by the department. Officers are monitored when three or more civilian complaints are logged, or for other reasons. The type of performance monitoring varies depending on the type of offense.

That's besides the complaints that are swept under the rug. And besides the complaints that they convince you not to put in the report

I'm not saying every cop is dirty and there are plenty of nice guys in the force when you sit down and talk to them. But why are they breaking all most every law they ticket us on. A few examples, they park on cross walks, (not only on calls, Yes even to go in to grab a slice) they talk on cells phones while driving all the time, they doble park etc.. Yes they do it, we see it, and we can't ticket them, where are the bosses then?

It is time we stand up against the abuse we have to put up with daily from the cops and ticket agents. When ever you see a ticket agent writing a ticket for an expired meter, beet him to it and deposit a quarter. When you see a cop park on the lines call out "shame on you!". When you see a sting operation taking place against law abiding citizens for "blocking the box" take out your phones and snap photos. And make sure to report them at every chance you get.
