Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand requested last month that the money be set aside for the Department of Health and Human Services, Schumer said. The money would go toward preparing for and responding to outbreaks of the virus.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 45 swine flu deaths nationwide.
A 29-year-old Yonkers woman appears to be the first H1N1 swine flu death in Westchester, county health officials reported Friday.
The woman, who died Tuesday night, had an underlying medical condition. The exact cause of death is pending an autopsy by the medical examiner.
There have been 55 confirmed cases of swine flu in Westchester, eight in Rockland County and three in Putnam County. There have been no deaths in Rockland or Putnam.

And this is the typical liberal way. First you get the media to create an artificial crisis. Then you have the media explain why only the gov't can solve the problem, followed by millions of dollars spent, followed by increased taxes to pay for it.
Can someone please tell me why they need 350,000,000$ to fight a disease that affected 45 people??
