Brooklyn, NY - NYPD Arrested Perv After Positively ID'd by Victim |
|
Brooklyn, NY - As was reported here by VIN News, police were looking for strangers responsible for molesting two Jewish girls in two separate incidents in Brooklyn in less than a week.
The first incident occurred at 5:15 PM. last Friday in the vicinity of East Third Street, in Kensington, in the vicinity of the 66th Precinct.
A second fondling incident occurred on Monday at around 8:35 a.m. At Avenue O and Dahill Road in Bensonhurst, in the vicinity of the 61st Precinct.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic man in his 20s.
NYPD Special Victims Bureau Inspector Theresa Shortell has just informed that an arrest has been made after the 14-year-old victim of the incident in the 61st Precinct had positively ID'd, the perpetrator out of a lineup.
The suspect is only being charged with this one crime that occurred in the 61st Pct, and not the second crime occurring in the 66th Pct.
Detectives are still investigating the second incident.

Teach all your children how to ID someone. Particular facial features like scars, hairstyles, tattoos, height of person (was he this tall when standing near that wall, car, fence, pole etc. And always scream for help - no matter what!
May Hashem help us never to need such advice.

As a child, when this happened I had no idea it was a crime I should have reported. He waved for me to get closer to him. I thought it was my fault because I was curious to find out what he wanted.

Jun 18, 2009 at 06:17 AM Frum professional Says:
For poster #13: child molestation is a crime. It must be reported to the police--this will lead to the perpetrator being apprehended and fewer crimes against other children.
Every adult who has any common sense knows this or has taught this to his / her children.
It's sad that this avla happened to you, but hopefully you will teach your children to immediately shout "No!" if someone tries to molest them, to defend themselves (requires prior training) if feasible, never to go off with or come near a stranger, and to run away, and to IMMEDIATELY inform a responsible adult--who should immediately go straight to the local police precinct and make a written report.
There are specially trained detectives for this sort of work. We live in a medina of chesed. Let's use their services to protect us and those we love.
Poster #13 says she thought it was her own fault. It is NEVER the victim's fault. A basic rule of yiddishkeit is that criminals are responsible for their actions. You did nothing wrong.
Those adults who are informed of such crimes and do not inform the authorities (as Rav Elyashiv shlita has insisted they do) are also criminals of a sort, as they often unwittingly are permitting a criminal child molester to continue his spree.
Most pedophiles tell professionals that they molested HUNDREDS before they were caught.
Unfortunately, most child molestation occurs not from strangers in the street but from teachers, clergy, camp counselors, gym instructors, and from 'friends' and family members. They use their proximity to children and the naivete of children--especially our frum chldren, who are relatively naive--to their advantage.
Let's say to the criminal predators, and to those who protect them: We will be silent no longer!

Friends, we have had,and continue to have, rabbis molesting children all over Brooklyn. For decades. And they did it in Baltimore. For decades. And it's happening as we speak in Ramat Bet Shemesh. No outcry from the heimishe until UOJ came along and shook us all up. Listen to all of you: "Oh Baruch Hashem he was caught. One less guy to worry about on the street."
But the molesters are still in yeshivas! Roaming yeshiva halls! Attacking little boys (and girls, too, sometimes). Are you still so relieved? THEY TEACH OUR CHILDREN. Have we all lost our minds?

I agree. One camera on a private house at the beginning of the block and one at the end of the block both recording every 10 seconds or so for storage up to 30 days. Car thefts, molestations, burglaries, will all be easier to catch and prosecute. As for lack of privacy - from what?? If youre sneaking into your neighbors house while the husband is away youre not from our community anyway. What are you afraid the camera will catch? We ive in a big anonymous CIty and this is the only way to curtail crime. Anyone for a Mosad to start the process? Maybe like the Eruv in BP it has to start block by block. Any security companies out there? How about a "special" deal, $500 for each system installed? Then, we just have to convince some homeowner to put it in .

Send them to public schools; there the teachers are angels.

Several courts have ruled that people who are in public places such as city streets, sidewalks, etc. do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy, whether or not they are acting suspiciously. The Police surveillance cameras installed in Times Square rely on this ruling. Also, any individual can certainly surveil his own private property. There may, however, be a problem with private surveillance of public places although I don't see how it would differ from any other Neighborhood Watch program.

What kind of freedom won't there be? For criminals to do their thing? BTW, the "Overseer in shamayim" threw that job into our hands. It's one of the nisyonos of our generation.

Well said, thank you! I have nothing to add, only to hope that this actually gets absorbed by all these seemingly "worried" people. Oh, I forgot "mesira" isn't shayech by a goy, so therefore our children must be protected... I just don't get it how people tolerate this from yidden and then jump when they find out about the much fewer cases with a goy involved. Some things are just beyone me.

Please don’t confuse the two, Melamdim (teachers) aren’t Rabbis. A Rabbi usually has a Shul, and a Melamed always has a class.

"Melamdim" aren't rabbis? Really? A rebbi in a yeshiva of a class of yeshiva children is not a rabbi in your book? He has to have a shul before he's called a rabbi? Really? You're crazy and you know it. Clap your hands.
