New York City - The Mystery Of The $100,000 Immune Jail Chaplain Imam |
|
On Thursday, the mayor actually went out of his way to praise Abdul-Jalil -- who, after initially denying any knowledge of it, later admitted he'd approved a lavish bar mitzvah party last December that a scam artist was allowed to throw for his son at the Tombs lockup.
"He gets great marks from all the other clergy for working together collaboratively," Bloomberg said of Abdul-Jalil, who collects more than $100,000 a year as an assistant city correction commissioner for ministerial service.
Added Bloomberg: "I made a decision that this is a guy who . . . does a good job, and we need to have him, and I'm very happy to have him."
Translation: Abdul-Jalil, a onetime drug dealer who spent 14 years in prison before becoming an imam, won't be punished beyond the two weeks' vacation he's already lost.
This, even though the mayor said, regarding the bar mitzvah bash, that "what's gone on . . . is unacceptable" and that the resignations of Rabbi Leib Glanz and Correction Chief Peter Curcio for their roles in the jailhouse shindig were "the right thing for them to do."
The fact is, this is not the only blemish on the imam's Corrections record.
In 2006, he was suspended for two weeks after The Post disclosed that he had given speeches blasting "the Zionists of the media" and denouncing President Bush as "the greatest terrorist in the world." Firing him, the mayor said then, would violate his free-speech rights.
A year later, the imam delivered a similar speech to inmates at Woodbourne Prison -- adding that he hoped no one was recording him because he'd already gotten in trouble for his earlier remarks.
Here's the irony: Abdul-Jalil kept his job in 2006 because he wasn't acting in an official capacity. This time, he was -- but he keeps his job anyway.
Par for the course for Mike Bloomberg, who finds it impossible to hold officials in his administration accountable for their misdeeds.

In answer to your opening question: if he converts to Judaism you can be sure our wonderful Mayor will destroy him. But as he's a Muslim, albeit an ex-con (I'm still shocked that he can be a PRISON chaplain!!!), he gets a free pass.

“time for the mayor to go”
Go where?? Bloomber will be reelected to a third term and he will be mayor until 2015. The NYPost hates bollomber and will try to link this Iman to the Mayor even though the real culprits ahve already resigned.
Whats the point of going after a mayor who is so popular that the Dems are having trouble finding a credible candidate to run against him

If this Imam would have been a Rabbi, you can be sure Mr. Bloomberg would have fired him a longtime agao. Mr. Bloomberg would have said, "We can't allow a rabbi to stir up hatred against another religion or group."
But, Mr. Bloomberg wants to please Hussein Obama, you know who I mean?.... that's the man who can't find his birth certificate or his college transcripts.
So, Mr. Bloomberg does not dare step on a hater's feet, as long as that hater is a Muslim.
Mr. Bloomberg is going to find out that the Muslims won't vote for him even if he kisses this Imam's feet. He will also only get the votes of the Jews who have not yet realized they were tricked by Husein Obama. He got 78% of the Jewish vote and now he's laughing at them for falling for his trickery.
I remember clearly how Mr. Obama sat together with the terrorist lovers named Mr. and Mrs, Rashid Khalidi at a dinner. That dinner was to honor Louis Farakhan. The Khalidis know the Obamas so well. How do I know that?...The Khalidis used to babysit the Obama girls.
Mr. Bloomberg is being loyal to the wrong group. Too bad he doesn't see the handwriting on the wall.
The writing on Mr. Bloomberg's wall says, " When they spit in your face, don't think it's raining."

You are far from a politician, Bloomberg may lose the election if he fires this Imam, he needs the Black and Muslim vote, and to fire a Black Muslim over a Jewish Bar Mitzvah, will backfire on a Jewish Mayor.

Even Zev Brenner says what Glanz did was a big embaressment to the yiddeshe community and should have resigned. His guest tonight, Ken Fischer, attributes much of the continuing focus on this chilul hashem to one of the two Satmer groups which is seeking to gain advantage at the expense of th other.

Don't blame one group over the other for continuing the focus on Arie Leib. What do you think tonight's program did?
Arie Leib helped prisoners on both sides of the fence, and the unfortunate consequence is that ALL frum yiden will suffer, so to try to pin this on a Zali mesira is just inflaming a simmering feud unnecessarily.
It is well known that there is political infighting in the hierarchy of the NY prison system, with some trying to climb the power ladder by getting rid of others already entrenched there. The best way to accomplish this is by feeding stories like these to the press.
Ironically, one contributing factor was an article in the Blatt praising Arye Leib for his devoted services, and which told the story of the Bar Mitzva in jail. Gershon Tenenbaum (a staunch Aroini) repeated the tale in the Jewish Press -- a newspaper widely read by Jews and non-Jews as well.
I hope that the full story will emerge, and that the higher-ups, including the imam who approved everything, will themselves face the music, thus taking the spotlight off Arie Leib as the lone perpetrator of these events!
