Israel - 16 Yemenite Immigrants Arrive in Israel |
|
"I hope all of Yemen's Jews make aliyah to Israel as soon as possible and won't immigrate to other destinations worldwide," said Eli Cohen, director of the Jewish Agency's Aliya and Absorption Division.
As a first step, the three families will reside at the Jewish Agency's absorption centers.
There are currently around 260 Jews still residing in Yemen, most of them in the city of Rada. The community lived in harmony alongside its Muslim neighbors until recently, when members of the community began to report threats.
They say the growing hostility against them was being largely ignored by the Yemenite authorities.
Meanwhile, a Yemenite court sentenced a former pilot to death for the murder of a Jewish man. Abdul-Aziz al-Abdi confessed to shooting Moshe al-Nahari, brother of the Jewish community's chief rabbi.
Eyewitnesses said they had heard al-Abdi call out to al-Nahari: "Jew, accept the message of Islam" at a local market in Rada. He then opened fire, killing him.

B"H I hope that the community in Eretz Yisrael takes in these brethren with open arms. Being a fellow Jew I can see the fear and uncertainty in her face and if I would be there be sure to give her an embracing welcome hug!
I look forward to seeing every large Jew out of Yemen.

Of course the Yemenites should go only to Israel. I also hope they keep close watch on their children. If the Zionists don't manage to steal them, they sure will drive them of the Derech by any means possible.
If anyone's naive enough to think otherwise, please check what happened to the vast majority of every Yemenite Aliyah in the past decades. Only then, should you criticize my comment.

That is absolutely true. ONe method is to refuse them entry into religious schools unless the parents dress chareidi and keep to Ashkenazi ways at home. No matter that they dress totally modestly or are more "frum" in many ways.
#3, I don't think she's fearful. The Mizrachim and Temanim in particular tend to be very reserved in strange situations and for us modesty goes beyond how we dress. It includes behavior. Many of us reject taking pictures of women as immodest. A candid shot like that was intrusive and she may have actually felt violated. As a photographer myself, I never take pictures of other women and never of strangers unless I ask permission.
