Manhattan, NY - Obama Calls NYC's Koch To Ask How He's Doing |

The 84-year-old Koch is currently in an intensive care unit at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia hospital after having quadruple bypass surgery last week.
The mayor's former press secretary, George Arzt, says the president called on Wednesday afternoon and said ``I'm just calling to tell you that you are in my thoughts and I'm sure you'll be out soon.''
Koch quipped ``as a result of this phone call I'm sure I'm getting a better room.''
Koch was the city's mayor from 1978 to 1989 and was famed for asking residents ``How'm I doin'?''
He is expected to stay in the hospital for at least another month.

Keep in mind that with ObamaCare, Hizzoner wouldnt have gotten treatment. The Oversight Committe in charge of deciding Mi Yich'ye U'mi Yomis would have looked at his age and decided he lived a long enough life and wasnt worth the investment to save.

#2 is 100% correct... with President Obama's plan the goverment does make crucial decisions on our day to day health. Age and overall health does play a factor....just think about how quickly they will unplug a 90 year old if they decide its to costly to keep a brain dead person alive

If you aren't older or if you have private insurance you have no idea. I was on Medicaid and not nearly as old as the Mayor and believe me, they did their best to kill me because it was the only way to get me out of the system and keep the resources for a younger person. they MADE me sick. I moved to Israel instead and am now healthy. Explain that if #2 is merely fear mongering as you claim.

Every President has used the media (e.g. Bush/Cheney constantly were using Fox News for their "infomercials" on the Iraq war etc) to promote their agendas and I would expect Obama to do so as much as he possibly can. As for his being a mensch for calling Koch to wish him a refuah shel'laymah, you should only aspire to be the mensch the president is. you don't have to agree with his policies but your lack of derech eretz and midos is disgusting.

this is only half true....people of stature will still get the care they need. it is the regular joes like my grandfather who wont.

You inability to understand or WANT to understand that this is a problem does not make it "Fear Mongering."
Just because it might be something you would disagree with DOES NOT make it "fear mongering!"
This is real. We will be no different than the nations of the world we look down upon. We dont want to walk around like the French and the Brits ---- all farbitert because the govt is getting over 70% of their income.
THIS IS REAL AND WE CANNOT ALLOW IT TO PASS.
WE CANNOT ALOW THE CAP N TAX BILL TO PASS FRIDAY EITHER. CALL YOUR REPS AND TELL THEM TO VOTE NO!!!!!!

I want to know what kind of insurance Koch has. Usually, they through you out of the hospital in a week or so after heart surgery. How does Koch get to stay there more than a month?
