Goshen, NY - Orange County Executive Ed Diana announced today he plans to sue Kiryas Joel for the second time over the environmental review for the village’s proposed connection to the Catskill Aqueduct.

Diana said he believes the village’s amendments to the review still fail to address adequately the issues the courts identified in response to the county’s 2004 lawsuit.

His decision to sue comes four days before the county Legislature planned to hold a public hearing on the pipeline project and six days ahead of a planned Legislature vote on whether to sue.

He probebly weighd his options. He is a bout to run again and he can't look like a weakling when it comes to KJ, on the other hand if it will be a tight race between him and his democratic challenger, then he just threw away the winning card for his opponent. At least 3,000 votes. We shall see....

What you all fail to realize is that all Ed Diana wants is for KJ to do what ANY other county in the U.S. is expected to do. Have all the "i's" dotted & the "t's" crossed before embarking on a project. You can't expect county legislature to sign off on something if their questions / requirements were not met.

I can't understand why the posters here are so negative about kj. If you visit kj one day you would know what I mean.

While the municipality complains about what to do with the sewage, the sewage treatment plant they have is running so far below capacity that they started renting out usage of the plant to other municipalities. This proves they are liars, fighting the pipeline out of antisemitism.

Another proof that this is just plain antisemitism is the fact that for years they complained that KJ used up "too much" of the well water. KJ responded by finding an outside source of water - the NYC aqueduct. Now they complain that it "isn't fair" that KJ should get all that water while they have to use the wells. So first they say KJ should stop using the municipality's water - then they say not to find another source either. Hmm, sounds like what they really want is for KJ to disappear, chv"sh.

As for it being "unfair" that KJ gets to use the NYC water line, by state law EVERY municipality in the state that this aqueduct passes through is entitled to tap in and get water, as long as teh plan is environmentally sound. That's why they sued KJ on environmantal reasons - because that's the only way to stop a proposal like this. So instead of suing to stop KJ from tapping in - why didn't they use the same time, energy and money to submit their own request to tap in? By law they're entitled. Why? Because then KJ would still have water.

The bottom line is that they just don't want KJ to have water. They want to hurt KJ even if it hurts themselves. They're just plain old-fashioned anti-semites.
