Israel - A state-run company representing Holocaust survivors is suing a major Israeli bank for $75 million, saying the money belongs to Holocaust victims' heirs.

The company says Jews killed in the Holocaust deposited money in hundreds of accounts at Bank Leumi.

The Company for Location and Restitution of Holocaust Victims' Assets is accusing Bank Leumi of withholding money from the depositors' heirs.

Company spokeswoman Meital Noy said today the suit was filed Wednesday.

The company represents 60,000 Holocaust survivors in Israel. Some 4,000 survivors are part of the class-action suit against Leumi.

About 6 million Jews were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators in World War II. About 250,000 survivors live in Israel, many in poverty.
