Brooklyn, NY - Woman Claims She Was Roughed Up By Hasidic Cop |

According to Brodigan, the arresting officer's name is Witriol (badge number 942838).
After seeing a photo, she identified him to us as Joel Witriol, who in 2006 became New York's first Hasidic cop. Brodigan, 32, says Witriol would not accept her explanation that she was carrying the pug because it was sick, and she believes that the disturbed crowd that gathered to witness the arrest only made him angrier. She tells us, "He punched me in the back (there are bruises)."
Melissa Randazzo, a speech language pathologist who lives in Williamsburg, witnessed the arrest and tells us, "something about it seemed very wrong. The cop's tone seemed really inappropriate and he kept saying things like, 'Are you going to act like a woman?' She tried to walk away, and then he grabbed her and pushed her against the wall outside the turnstile." Randazzo ran up to the street level to call 911 to, as she says, "call the cops" on Witriol, and soon some 20 officers had descended into the Bedford station. They then ordered the witnesses to disperse. Brodigan describes what happened after she was arrested:
They took my pug and he told me he was taking him to the pound where he would be "put down." I was taken to the J stop headquarters. I wasn't allowed to call a lawyer and I was put in a cell with handcuffs on with two other women who spit on me and hit me in the head, because they weren't in handcuffs and I was crying so much it bothered them. I was given 3 tickets: failure to produce ID, disorderly conduct, and failure to have dog in a container. I have a court date in August. I asked for a pen to write the badge numbers down before I left and they refused to give me a pen and covered up their badges. My pug was returned. They had him behind their desks and were playing with him."
The NYPD press office declined to verify any information about the arrest; the spokesman told us that because these are misdemeanor charges, they "usually don't hear anything about that." Brodigan adds that, "So many people saw what happened that I just would really like for everyone to submit complaints, because this man shouldn't be able to do this to women—to anyone."

I work in Williamsburg and am fed up with these smart alecks. They also have issues with obeying the law when it offends their dogs. I see these issues every day.
The issue which she is trying to obscure is that she refused to keep her dog in a box that would assure the safety of other passengers on the train. I would like to see the parent that would rather see their child harmed by a loose dog. Having broken the rule and refused to present ID she then presented her made up and long planned story and accused the cop of this behavior.
I am not a chosid and am closer to modern orthodox. I base my opinions, not on witnessing the incident but on the normal patterrn of what goes on daily AND on the fact that I do not believe Yoely did or said what she claims. She might have even had a fight with her boyfriend prior. The other claims are hard to prove.

You are just a cop hater, sorry you couldn’t read, I specifically said I don’t know the fact but I always give the benefit of doubt for the person who is in the uniform regardless what his or hers religious believes area. Any day of the week I will take the word (if there is no contrary evidence) of a first responder who put his or her life on the line to help us. and my comment about Millhouse is not with respect to his views to the contrary.

I speak of a unit that can be called to a scene, as opposed to a slow bureaucratic office that handles only severe or repeated complaints. Very often people are at a total loss when a cop is being very unreasonable. At such a moment there is absolutely nobody to turn to. As I said, when somebody has unchecked power it is often abused. Many times the attitude is like mr. anonymous says, by default the guy in uniform is right. Within a certain limit they can really treat you however they want.

I tried posting last night but it didn't show up. Why does everyone have to go to B&H why it is still a free country and anyone can chooose to work their jobs as they wish. DO you work at B&H? This is not about b&H this is freedom of choice and there fore he can do so. I think he might have tried something to soon and didn't think about it in advance. I might be wrong. If he is in it let him do his best. However as soon as I heard he is a cop I pictured things like this however I didn't feel it would be so soon. I don't think you can become a ditective or undercover before you serve as a reguler police. There is a chain you have to go through link by link. So if its wrong to be a cop he should probably go to B&H it probably pays better then a NYPD. He probably was motivated to become a cop after seeing how many cops are needed in Willamsburg so he decided might as well have a Heimishe police.

To whom it may concern at NYPD TRANSIT HQ. It is very clear to me that you're no representative of the NYPD. While it is nice of you to back Yoeli the way you did, you should remember a couple of things next time you post a comment like this one. First off you probably should refer to him as officer, then you should call him Joel and not yoely the way you did. Also make sure that your spelling is correct and that the right letters are capitalized. You should also spell out the entire word i.e. you and not u. I'm just trying to make you look better the next time you try something like this.

You can't just walk out of the police academy and become a detective you need to be promoted and take lots of exams it is a lengthy process which can take years.
And for the record what I think Yoeli said or at least what he meant to say was: If you will act like a lady I'll treat you like a lady.
