Brooklyn, NY - It's a driver's dream come true in Brooklyn - at least for two months.

Five neighborhoods are the latest to get a two-month break from dreaded alternate-side parking rules so the city Department of Transportation can install signs that reduce street cleaning from two days a week to one.

The change goes into effect on Monday for Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, Fulton Ferry and Brooklyn Heights.

Fort Greene and Clinton Hill already had the perk, and those new rules will begin on June 20.

The city lightened the parking rules - the source of endless tickets that fill city coffers each year -- after Brooklyn Community Board 2 asked for the break, arguing their streets were already clean.

The borders for the latest changes include:

North: East River from Furman Street to Hudson Avenue.

East: Hudson Avenue (included) from John Street to Navy Street, including Plymouth Street, Little Street and Evans Street; Navy Street (included) from Hudson Avenue to Myrtle Avenue; Myrtle Avenue (not included) from Navy Street to Flatbush Avenue; Flatbush Avenue (included) from Myrtle Avenue to Fulton Street.

South: Fulton Street (not included) from Flatbush Avenue to Adams Street; Joralemon Street (included) from Adams Street to East River.

West: Furman Street (included) from Joralemon Street to Old Fulton Street

a) "your comment is based on race" doesn't make sense
b) 1990: A new Traffic Enforcement Agent uniform is introduced. Prior to this change, the Agents uniform had been brown, and were commonly referred to as 'brownies' by the public. Intended to improve their image and do away with the brownie label, the new uniform is a navy blue jacket with gray slacks. (taken from the internet

More money will come in. Because people won't really know when exactly it starts or ends. So they will collect more tickets then ever. You don't have to believe me but sit and relax enjoy the show

The street cleaning machines do not clean streets well. New Yorkers need to learn how to clean up after themselves. I went to a bank's ATM on a Sunday-the place was littered with trash. A few feet away from a (full ) sidewalk garbage bin, a sidewalk was littered with garbage. There needs to be more public trash receptacles and people need to use them.

They should suspend it in BP and Flatbush where they give one of the highest % of summonses. Instead they try it at the elite

BP and Flatbush had their turns years ago when they redid the signs to change alternate side from 3 hours to 1 1/2. Sorry buddy. You don't get a suspension every time another neighborhood does. ;-)
