perhaps spinal injuries are not life threatening but they ARE life altering. I hope this is not serious, sometimes there is temporary damage or swelling which gets better.
I thought diving was not allowed.

Too many incidents at Stolin camp. Many smaller, not so well known incidents there point to inadequate supervision, instruction and direction in general. Add to that, inexperienced EMT's, and what do you get? Hair-raising incidents.
In any case, Mazel Tov to Moshe Perlstein upon his engagement there. He too had an accident several summers ago there. Chasdei Hashem!

1).B"H there were no spinal injuries and the kid is on his way back to camp.
2). Even though there is no Hatzoloh in the area they have a Hatzoloh Paramedic (one of the best BP medics) on ground at all times.
3) There are 6 lifegaurds patroling the pool area at all times and most of them are EMT.
4.) The State trooper on scene commended the medic and emt on scene for their profesionalism in giving proper pt care as they did a rapid take down and immobilized with a board and collar.

what you just posted is not loshon horah it is pure sheker, camp karlin stolin has a experienced hatzolah paramedic on premises 24/7 (including 3 experienced EMT's) so please don't make any assumptions about inadequate supervision before you find out your facts

Yes, "in a pool full of children, diving should be prohibited!!" Also, you should warn that if the pool is empty of any water - no diving, please!! Do you have any other thoughts to share or have you run dry? Foolish people make assumptions and then make conclusions that have no connection with reality.

You obviously never slept in the staff bunk that was on top of a swamp.
You obviously never peeled skinless franks so the real ganev in charge of the canteen could do his genevish shtick undisturbed.
PS: all true and he was caught, wonder what shtick he has progressed to now!

Besides for "Zenwirth" you mention here, who else is experienced????
The young guys you mention don't have the experience to monitor a camp full of "lebidige" boys. That so-called "Health Director" isn't even married yet, not a Hatzolah member but has family connections. Wow!

What I stated is the historical facts. "IF" this year, they vamped up the week-long medical staff - not talking about weekends, then with all due respect, kudos to the administration, it's about time. In the past, a young newly-wed "cool dude" was the EMT on premises with as much experience as a school secretary. That aside, the camp administration has, historically speaking allowed for tree-climbing as high as some apartment buildings in New York which contributed to the death of a camper there recently. It was not a one-time freak experience. Boys had been climbing trees there for awhile. Regarding other lacking administrative responsibilities, I speak from personal experience and would love to elaborate on even more recent administration mismanagements in medical decisions but cannot discuss details due to privacy of the camper/patient. The Stolin camp has a long ways to come from even last year incidents. Only history will tell us if the camp administration made any real changes or will it repeat itself. I wish this camp the best of luck and pray for its success.

Hopefully there is proper supervision at all times but more than that we need Hashem to watch over everyone because ultimately HE is the one in charge!

When I was a lifegaurd at Camp Torah Vodath 25 years agoe they did not allow diving durring a general swim. To the guy that said he went swimming in the lake - BS- its a dirty smelly swamp.
Any alumnie remember We love The Boss Newhouse, Super greese Moty Finklman, Hersh Michel Chin, Fifers cooking, Goldfingers cocush cake, OOOh Yitsty Urps, Gots, Newman, Shanik, Heshy Wolf, Rabbi Wolfson and the masmidim. Back then there was a infirmary with a registered nurse. No EMTs. If someone got hurt they would rush him to the hosital by car. I remember staff being sprayed by a skunks and we baught them tomato juice to take a bath.
Hashem Yishmor. Be carefull we are entering the 3 weeks.

I'm not saying the buchur who died in the camp by the tree was camps fault, but there should have been someone knowing where the buchurim are all the time!! Some type of supervision! Are we all going to wake up when racmunus l'tzlan another person gets killed??!! Camp Stolin wake up and revamp your ways! Kudos to the medical staff for responding with the proffesionism yesterday to the diving accident!

I was at CTV for nine years, on and off, from 1982-1993. I was so sad when it closed down. It was really an amazing camp, with a special achdus. We were proud of the fact that we were one of the few camps without a gym. We used to play in Mosquito Square Garden. Good times!

I also spent many summers in CTV, the place to be! (From 1966-1977, before most of you were born!) I'm so proud that my kids went to the same place as did I, albeit with a different administration! The Emunas Yisroel Kehilla was established there! The Mashgiach 'feerd tish' on the front lawn! Reb Shmiel Duvid walked around all Friday encouraging the use of the Mikveh. Who remembers when "Squeeki" was almost sent home and Rav Wolfson came down and challenged "The Boss." And, one second, who was the boss? Wasn't it Mrs. Newhouse? like in the grammen we sang, "The Boss, The Boss, talalala...... Mrs. Newhouse, ta lalalalala!
Wasn't 'Oncle Sem' Rabbi Deeshone? Who remembers the Color War breakout in 1968 when Reb Shloima Krinsky came and Rabbi Sherman didn't wait for him for Shemona Esray!? And Nicki Gordon and Benny Birnbaum! The play of the Wizard of Oz when Boruch Hisenrath played Danny! Ah, oh CTV, it was the place to be!!!
AS FOR STOLINER CAMP TODAY Rabbi Shain and Rav Shimon Spira run the camp that's the envy of the mountains! There certainly is adequate shmira there! The place is a makom Kadosh in every sense of the word! There is very adequate shmira! Remember a vort from Rav Hutner, "Rooba d'Rooba feert der Aibershter der velt!" How many out there haven't "witnessed" a car accident? Things happen! We must teach our kids to be careful and we must provide adequate shmira and let G-t run His world! Let's be more careful and have bitochon in Him!
(WHO REMEMBERS THE MOSQUITOS - they're not there any more, the way they used to be! The goy, yimach shmoi, had the CTV administration believe that the area was a protected wildlife zone and spraying wasn't legal. He confessed to a friend when drunk at the bar that he made it all up cuz he loved to see Jewish kids suffer! Yimach Shmoi!)

What a chutzpah! I've been in many camps and this one in particular for long enough to know that this is not true. There are B"H rarely any incidents more or equal to any other camp. Yes, when children are playing ball, you will have more of a chance of injury than when a child is in yeshiva learning.
Inexperienced EMT?!!!! Get your facts straight!
