Sana'a - Young Jewish Bride Vanishes in Yemen |
|
Hamdi, who hails from the Kharef area in the northern Amran province, was married two weeks ago to Haroun Salem, a Jew from the nearby Sa'ada province. The wedding was held in Sana'a and was attended by senior government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs Rashad Mohammad al-Alimi.
Hamdi was living in her husband's family's home in Sana'a's Tourism City when she disappeared, Jewish community sources told the local News Yemen newspaper.
According to the sources, Hamdi was kidnapped by a Muslim man from Kharef whom she had refused to marry. The kidnapper reportedly also stole her jewelry and some money from her new husband.
News Yemen reported that the family blamed the security forces of Tourism City for failing to prevent the kidnapping, and even for helping to facilitate it.
"Some Yemeni Jews have recently started leaving Yemen to Israel over fears of attacks, especially after a Yemeni Jew [Moshe Yaish-Nahari] was killed in Radfan of Amran [province] last year," News Yemen noted.
Other Yemeni media, however, told a different story.
According to the Yemen Observer website, Hamdi was in love with the young Muslim suitor, but her family had refused his marriage proposal.
The website quoted a source in the Tourism City security forces who denied that a man had entered the compound. "The girl possibly was in love with another guy so she ran away to him," the source said on condition of anonymity. "She took her jewelry with her," the source noted, adding that the guards usually prevent anyone from entering the compound, but did not restrict residents from leaving it.
The Jewish community has reported the incident to the Ministry of Interior.

Shaidim in the Torah???? I think we get what you're trying to say anyway. Bottom line, I think #1 and #3 are on to something. The newspapers in Yemin portray a slightly different story. She probably was told to get married and all her problems will end. Then she starts married life "without" a husband for 2 weeks and remembers he whimsical times. Unfortunately, the machlah here is that people think getting married solves all issues and problems. It doesn't. The interesting detail missing from the story is where this Muslim fellow is. Did he run away too? If not, I am sure we can get to the bottom of the story very fast. How do you expect to raise a family where only 200 of you exist? Who do you think your kids are playing with? I have asked my friends who are shlichim what they do to protect their kids. They said they have a special shmira from the Rebbe. But, who is giving the shmira for all the non-shlichim. Regardless, we must daven for her safe return to her family and yiddishkeit.

Why won’t they let someone (we trust) ask her which story is true?
It’s a very sad story. In a land where murderers can walk free, kidnappers can too. Why won’t they allow her parents to see her? The answer is clear that she was kidnapped and fears for her life.
Here is a barbaric country, for everyone to see. The whole world was once barbaric, but Yemen remained in the Dark ages. Where is the enlightened world?

Unfortunately it is not uncommon in Yemen that Jewish girls are kidnapped by Muslim men. I know 2 such other stories. So I admit I rather believe she was kidnapped than ran away. I hope she returns safely very quickly, so far the other 2 didn't. May Hashem return them safely as well.

The Jews in Yemen remain faithful to Hashem and his Torah for 2000 years but a Jewish girl runs off with a Moslem AFTER SHE MARRIES?? She could have run off with him before. Yemenis Jews are not Americans. They don't marry goyim.

Arabs are allowed to marry jewish girls by their religion . The story in the yemenite goishe media without any reference to the possibility of her being kidnaped, shows that they are covering up the fact that it was a in fact a kidnapping.
please getthis girl's name and her mothers name so we could daven for her.

Another three days have already passed; does anyone know if any progress was made to free her? Are we to go on with our lives and forget that a Yiddish Kind has been snatched from us and is being kept against her will in captivity? What did Shimon VeLeivi do for their sister Dinah and what are we willing to do for our sister?
