Hungary - Concern In Wake of Anti-Semitic Beating in Budapest |
|
The beating of a young Jewish man, a kosher restaurant supervisor who was followed home on June 30 by three men who hurled anti-Semitic epithets during the alleged assault, comes at a time of growing concerns about anti-Semitism in Hungarian society and the rising popularity of the far-right extremist party, Jobbik.
“The highest political echelons need to reinforce the message of zero tolerance for anti-Semitism and bigotry and of full assurance of civil rights for all of Hungary’s citizens,” said Glen S. Lewy, ADL National Chair and Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.
Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai has instructed the Justice Minister, Tibor Draskovics, to investigate the assault and to recommend measures to prevent such attacks in the future. In a letter to Bajnai, the League urged the prime minister to ensure the investigation was “… effective, comprehensive, and instills trust within Hungary’s Jewish community.”
According to members of the Jewish community of Budapest, the victim was severely beaten by three men who cornered him in an apartment building and asked if he was Jewish. The assailants allegedly yelled, “you should go back to Auschwitz, you stinky Jews” as they pummeled the victim. No arrests have been made in the case thus far.
Last month, the League wrote to the Hungarian prime minister to voice concerns about signs of growing anti-Semitism within the TMRSZ police trade union -- which in a newsletter advocated anti-Semitism as “the duty of every Hungarian patriot” -- and the strong showing of the extremist Jobbik party in European parliamentary elections.

As Rashi says when Esav kissed Yaakov after not seeing him for many years. Omar Rav Shimon Ben Yechoee "halacha B'yodooa she' Eisav SONEH ess Yakov.. Why Halacha ?? it is a feeling?? But just like Halacha is forever !!! Goyim the world thruout hate us from dor to dor just like the validity of all everlasting Halacha!
Even the Nordic Nations today have rampant anti semitism as never before like in our Universities. As I always say (there are very few exceptions) A goy bleibt a Goy!
Those few in the Holocaust and the Christians running to eretz yisroel recently are the minute exception of righteous gentiles and the exception in our long history.
Just ask the people in Poland or Hungary what the Catholic priests taught the masses on Sundays Church sermons or the sefardic Jews who will tell all of us who the Arabs really are (because they lived with them) and u should not be surprised at this one bit as to who they are for their ROV AM!!!!!

CP is so right!
I agree that where they don't want us, they don't get us. We can sit back and watch them be fifty years late in every kind of technology and in starting industry. We are here to learn and follow the Torah, and if they won't let us do that in their countries, we get up and go to fair countries where freedom is for ALL people, not just the selfish ones. Then, we can learn and do the mitzvos and help those people in those countries that are open to others.
By leaving, we save our brothers and sisters from being hurt or killed.
I'm sure there are a few good hearted Hungarians, but I haven't heard them complain about the rise of anti Semitism.
Please, let's get out of there.

I agree with both you and CP who wrote: "YIDDEN! PLEASE!!! We beg you to leave these countries. It seems that right now the only places that are safe for us are EY, the USA, and Canada."
Incidents of anti-Semitism are rising all over the world. The Ribbono Shel Olam is hitting us on the side of the head with a proverbial 2 by 4, trying to get our attention with His urgent message: "Yidden, it's time to go home."
But don't be smug and think for a moment that we are exempt from the message here in the good ole USA and Canada. While European Jews are in the most immediate danger -- especially with the ongoing Islamization of Europe -- the necessity for voluntary Aliyah in order to hasten the geula applies to us all, in whatever golus-country we may be living in. The Ribbono Shel Olam will, I believe, gradually increase the pressure on this side of the Atlantic, too, to make us realize that the time to leave has come.

Sorry to disagree but according to Nach going to E"Y is not the answer to our troubles. The Teshuva we need to do is not moving to E"Y -even if that is a very important Inyan - but a Teshuva in our Pinimius, between ourselves and Hakadosh Baruch Hu .

I would like to know your source(s) in Nach for your viewpoint, but I have a standard answer for you that I have published on VIN many times. These words of the venerable Rav of Yerushalayim, Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, zt"l are an eye opener:
“Now I understand the words of Musaf for Yom Tov: `Because of our sins were we exiled from our country and distanced from our Land’ - this we have done VOLUNTARILY. Many times have I directed that the religious Jews in the diaspora be instructed that anyone who has the ability to come to Eretz Yisrael and doesn’t, will have to account for his FAILURE [to make Aliyah] in Ha'Olam Haba.” (Ha’ish Al Hachoma, vol. II, p. 149).
The Rav's tochacha is urgent, now more than ever.
[The Chazon Ish too, urged Bnei Torah to make Aliyah; see Peer Hador, vol. II, p. 42]
