Long Branch, NJ - Long Branch Police Department confirmed to VIN News, that a 30-year-old woman pulling into her driveway early this morning struck and killed the neighbors child.
Jersey Shore Hatzolah responded to the scene at Highland Avenue, and transported the 20-month-old boy in traumatic arrest to Monmouth Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor's office, the child, Abraham Mizrachi, was alone when he wandered off to his neighbors driveway. The neighbor was backing in her Lexus Rx SUV and didn't notice the child only after the tragic accident.
No summons has been issued and no further inquiry will be done by the prosecutor's office.
Due to the family's request no autopsy was performed. The Medical Examiner office has released the body.

BD"E. Yet another tragic accident. My heart goes out to BOTH families! Every week we hear of another tragedy, most involving children so far. PLEASE PARENTS: WATCH YOUR CHILDREN!!! They are like lightening, the run & escape so fast. Keep pools locked & alarmed, put high locks on doors to cellars/basements, garages, sheds & front & back doors. Lock away cleaning materials & medicines.
I think Hatzalah in every community needs to hold safety forums for people in the city. We can all use a basic refresher course on common sense. Bungalow colonies all have Hatzalah members. Let them do the same upstate.
Nobody is negligent, but it's easy to miss the obvious.

And you just did...... all these precautions that you spell out so well are to be taken with all seriousness- but what you fail to mention is why all this is happening. With all the precautions in the world if its His will so it'll be. I think we can all agree on one thing, and that is Hashem wants something from us and we all have look within to see where we could better ourselves in the way we serve Him.

That a krum Hashkofo: With all the precautions in the world if its His will so it'll be.
Sometimes Hashem makes things happen because - and only because - of something we did.
So if this kid had been properly supervised, it's fair to assume he'd still be alive and well.
As Rav Wolbe zt"l once said: When you miss the bus don't "blame" Hashem, rather Get Out Of Bed 2 minutes earlier!
It's a Goyish thing to only mention Gcd when things go wrong. When a space-shuttle blows up it's "Gcd's hand" but when it lands safely we forget about Him.
Of course Hashem runs the world - but we are expected to do our Hishtadlus - otherwise our actions can cause disaster.

Unfortunately accidents happen making it a tragedy for all involved and all of klal Yisroel as we are Areyvim ze loze!. wHAT WE HAVE TO DO THOUGH IS WORK WITH OUR CHILDREN TEENAGE DRIVERS TO SERIOUSLY OBEY DRIVING RULES AND WE MUST SET AN EXAMPLE. wE MUST ALWAYS DO OUR UTMOST TO BE VIGILANT IN DRIVEWAYS, CHECK OUR BACKSEATS AND BUSES AND MOST OF ALL, KEEP DISTANCES AND SPEEDS TO THE EXACT REUIREMENT OF THE LAW. No shtik , no showoffs or road rage. Better to be mad and let the other guy get on, than fight for a point and someone ends up dead. Most chuleria murders are because someone wants to get respect or get even! The same as on the road or to show off! lET US DAVEN FOR THIS AND ALL THE NESHOMALACH AND PEOPLE LOST FOR NOTHING THIS SUMMER. mAY HASHEM PROTECT ALL OF kLAL YISROEL FROM THE Chayas driving in the mountains speeding, and not stopping at lights or stop signs as I witnessed yesterday on Camp visiting day.

It makes sense to remember this tragedy as a self-lesson to drive more carefully. Even though this driver was doing no wrong -- who hasn't seen someone rushing down the street because they're late for davening or school pick-up.

Who am I (or YOU) to say WHY these tragedies are occurring? You think it's productive to point fingers & say YOU need to improve in Tznius? YOU need to stop talking Loshen Hora? We are not G-d. We don't know. If you have the answers, start with yourself. We all should look at ourselves only, not at each other.
But there is one area everyone can improve on. That's Achdus & Ahavas Yisrael.

So many sad stories. Perhaps car manufacturers should be required by law to have a closed circuit tv system built in, so the driver can see what is directly behind the car at a low height.

This is krum hashkofo: Everything that happens is controlled by hashem, and when a mother didn't realize that her child left the house and at that moment a car hits the child by accident yes we believe that this was nigzur min hashumayim, but it does not mean that we blame hashem, whatever he does is good and had to be done, and we need to better ourselves in "ruchneos" and also be more carefull when something like this happens, some people don't like to hear that they need change in "ruchneos" they don't want to change themselves, so they blame the victim wasn't careful and they can go on with their wrong lifestyle.

To you and number 17 - you are wrong - this child was to be taken on this day and this moment. Nothing can change that. The person who it was brought about through - if it was negligence then he is a killer and if by accident he is a shliach hashem. As for the parents of the child - the way the child was taken away / and the way they react to it - is part of the tests of life that Hashem tests us all - all the time.

This is the sort of thing I live in fear of. I drive transportation for a playgroup in Monsey and I constantly see toddlers running, riding bikes, etc. in driveways and sidewalks without much supervision. Sometimes I have to get out of my van and double-check that the coast is clear before I back out of a driveway!
No judgment on either the poor bereaved parents or the driver who will have to relive this nightmare for the rest of her life - I've had quite enough near-misses myself. It's a tragedy all around. Let's learn from it and daven for a safer summer.

There is nothing in #22's post that even remotely resembles apikorsus. Your comments do more to reveal your doubts better than they describe his but that's okay. No Jew, from Moshe Rabeinu to the present day, lives without questions and doubts. Without questions, how can one shteig? He is completely correct in saying that the true machsavos HaShem's are unknown and unknowable to mortals. Our our responsiblity as ovdei HaShem is to do His ratzon as deliniated in Torah and chazal. Bein adam laMakom and bein adam l'chaveiro are all mitzvos HaShem and are equally important and it is equally incorrect to say that a particular tragedy occured be cause we were nichshal in a particular mitzva of either kind. Being careful to avoid hezek to ourselves and others is also a requirement of the Torah. Failure to take proper care is an aveirah.

very smart idea, however i doubt car manufacturers would install that.we installed a camera in the back of my car, when you reverse the rearview mirror is like a camera you can see what is going on behind you. it is much clearer than a regular rearview mirror

Perhaps this should be a reminder to all of us to thank H for all the miracles he does 24/7. (And I am not talking about the millions of miracles that it takes to keep human body going 24/7)
The fact that these types of accidents don’t happen every day is a tremendous chesed/ miracle. Even if you only have 1 child it’s impossible to watch him or her 24/7, and you can have all the preventive measures in place and child can still find him/herself in a dangerous situation with in a blink of the eye. You can be watching your child in a playground and the child can slip of the monkey bar and suffer severe life threatening injuries. Just look out your window wherever you live and watch kids all ages almost getting into accidents. So lets just thank the one above for the all the good and say some Tehillim for the family of this child and specially for the poor driver of this car.
