Israel - It only lasts a minute but has sparked days of argument and controversy.

Cellcom, one of Israel's leading mobile phone networks has produced a TV commercial starring Israel's controversial security barrier with the Palestinian West Bank.

The ad shows an Israeli army jeep patrolling a concrete section of the barrier. Their jeep is hit by a soccer ball kicked by unseen Palestinians from the other side. The soldiers get out and kick it back -- yes, you guessed it, the ball comes back over again and an impromptu games begins.

A soldier makes a phone call on his cellphone and more uniformed Israelis show up who cheer their comrades. At no point do we see or hear from the Palestinians on the other side.

The commercial voice over ends by saying "we all just want to have fun."

The ad has caused outrage among Palestinians and left wing Israelis who accuse it of white washing the negative effects of the wall.

The International Criminal Court in the Hague has ruled the Wall illegal as it is built in many places on occupied land.

Many Palestinians have lost land and have been cut off from work, family and schools. They accuse Israel of using to grab more territory.

The commercial was produced by the Israeli office of US advertising agency McCann Erickson. The company has defended the ad by claiming it shows how people can overcome obstacles between them to build freindship.

The ad is in bad taste it makes light of Palestinian suffering and shows how far Israelis fail to understand their neighbors, it shows that most of Israelis do not understand Palestinians' rage at the barrier

Ahmed Tibi, an Arab member of Israel's parliament, said he had written to Cellcom demanding it pull the ad: "The barrier separates families and prevents children from reaching schools and clinics," he said. "Yet the advertisement presents the barrier as though it were just a garden fence in Tel Aviv."

Yes the Palestianians have a right to be outraged that they no longer can so easily smuggle in suicide bombers to Israel.

who cares about palestinian rage.
what about the rage of innocent Jews blown up by palestinians before there was a barrier to keep them caged?

The ad should have been more realistic:

Arab thugs occupiers of Eretz Yisroel are planning a terrorist act.
Israeli soldiers call on the cell phone to ask for reinforcements.
Reinforcements come and successfully liquidate arab thugs occupiers.

It could be done with a wall or without the wall.

The wall prevents arab thugs terrorists, occupying Eretz Yisroel, from reaching Jewish schools and clinics. I agree the wall and the arabs should be removed.

The Palestinians' "rage" is always evident. This is an automatic reaction even if a Jew drops a paper clip on an Arab foot. Their rage is forever present, not just in Israel or in Gaza. In the Philipines and in Indonesia you will also see that "rage." Whenever you see Muslims in a crowd, they are all angry, bitter, screaming, and otherwise performing, because they know the cameras are on.

We took that land in 1967 because they used to launch attacks form those places. In the Golan Heights also, those kibbutz people used to be fired upon when they used tractors to simply plow their fields. Those tractors were all equipped with heavy armor so they would stop getting murdered.
Then, when those lands were captured, and for good reason, those "Palestinians" demanded "their" land back. Of course that really means they wanted to continue to attack from those same positions again.

Is there anyone who can remember EVER seeing any Palestinian "rage" when the Twin Towers were destroyed? Of course not, we even remember them celebrating the 3,000 deaths by giving out candy and dancing in the streets. So, the rage isn't for the deaths of fellow humans. It is only a selfish bitter anger. So, I'm tired of thinking about their "rage."

I agree with #10 and #11 -- it is cute and if the P/A really wanted peace -- they would have come and played and thrown the ball back and forth -- but no -- all they did was complain as usual!! It is only a ball game!! People are having fun for a change and not getting killed!! Would they rather that people got killed??? What is it that they really want??? Let them tell Obama the TRUTH and then UNCOMPLAIN about the ad!! It is cute!!

How about Israeli rage at the pallys' terror tactics? Why do the moron leftists think this was put up to begin with? Truthfully, Israel should just annex Yehudah and Shomron and be done with it. For all the worlds' angst and sputter at the current situation, I don't think it would be that much difference.

You mean the prop soccer ball and the actors playing soldiers should have worried about a booby trap. Paranoia will destroya.

Anywho, nothing at all wrong with the ad, very clever indeed and the hullaballoo over nothing is an attempt to further garner sympathy for the arab perspective on the wall that is there for one reason - to stop suicide missions and save Jewish lives.

Give the commercial a B+ and the Wall, A+.

The arabs (there is no such thing as "Palistinians") are enraged at the barrier because it makes it extremely difficult for them to kill and maim jews...this I am not at all surprised at; what I find reprehensible is the fact that Hague (comprised of multiple nazi accomplices) can look at the world with a straight face and declare the wall "illegal" Yimach Shimum

A. I think the ad is inappropriate because it makes light of the Jewish suffering... The wall is too little too late, and should serve as a reminder of the constant threat from the Palestinians...

B. I didn't know that international rights can be enforced on one side only, the Palestinians never accepted international law, and they violate it by using unconventional methods... (i.e. bombings) Israel should not have to listen to any law from any court regarding the Palestinian case, so long the Palestinians don't follow and accept and observe international law...

This is much hysteria and hooplah. This commercial portais the Palestinians as just humans like us, who like a good game of soccer. We don't see them, but why should we? It is filmed from the Israeli side, and the Israelis can't see the Pals. But the ball keeps coming back, which means the Pals are there,a nd they're having as much fun as we are. It is actually a very clever commercial, and not insulting at all.

No, the actual soldiers portrayed should have been worried about a booby trap. The fact that they are shown kicking it back without fear, instead of calling the bomb squad to isolate it and blow it up, is subtle propaganda, designed to give the impression that the people on the other side of the wall "just want to have fun". Far from being angry, the terrorists and their leftist collaborators should be delighted with this ad. It deliberately evokes images of "Xmas in the Trenches" in order to make Israelis wonder what they are fighting for. The wall exists because on the other side are people who WOULD send a booby-trapped ball over it, in order to blow up any soldier foolish enough to kick it back.

All Palestinian suffering is inflicted on them by their own leaders. The only reason they are in rage against the barrier is that it prevents them from killing Jews. What was the cause of their "suffering" before there was a barrier?

I don't think actual soldiers would have reacted the way the commercial was scripted. Just a hunch, I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm gonna guess that SOP for real soldiers engaged in a soccer match over the wall is not to break out in a game like on the (fake, not real, acted) commercial. Just a hunch. Methinks the tzahal don't need your input to tell them that there might be booby traps around the actual security fence. Nor do they need you to tell them that water is wet, or that dirt is dirty.

Right, and just think how many schools and clinics they could have built on the other side of the wall had they not squandered the money on suicide bombers, car bombs, mortars, kassams, katyushas, payments to suicide bomber families, tunneling equipment, etc. I personally laugh every time that hear that "poor Palestinian" died of a heart attack waiting at a check point so the ambulance couldn't get to the hated, nazi-like, zionist, occupier, doctors, in time to save his life. Perhaps they should think about financing medical centers instead of bomb factories? Now that's a really extremist radical thought. That aside, the commercial is kinda cute. it'll probably get pulled because freedom of expression is something only leftist really have.
