Seattle, WA - Starbucks To Start Selling Beer And Wine |
|

People will soon be able to order a venti beer as the struggling Seattle-based coffeehouse chain hopes to add new drinkers to its ranks, USA Today reported today.
The chain will add wine and beer to the menu at one of its Seattle stores, which it has even given a new name.
The store, which opens next week, will be called "15th Ave. Coffee and Tea inspired by Starbucks."
The company plans to create two more similar stores in the Seattle-area at locations that aren't currently Starbucks stores.
If the concept catches on, selling coffee and beer could be tested in other cities, Major Cohen, senior project manager at Starbucks, told USA Today.
Cohen said he didn't yet know if the concept would be incorporated into all Starbucks stores if it's successful.
Under the pilot-program, the store will serve a half-dozen kinds of beers and wines. A bottle of beer or a glass of wine will sell for $4 to $7.
"We'll be equally as proud of our beer and wine as we are of our coffee," said Cohen.

$4.00 dollars for a glass of beer. If they want to make money, they should sell the stuff they're smoking.
And hey, they could open up one of these in BP on 15 ave. They could get a Bobver chassid to do a commercial for them.
Keep on dreaming boys

this will cause a couple of Halachic Questions:
1 what will be with the utensils as the wine is Yayin NesechN
2 Although beer is generally kosher, the place it isn't allowed is in a Goyish Store/Bar?this is in shas Avodah Zara and Shulchan Aruch?
(some even prohibit starbucks today even to buy coffee for the reasons brought down in shas and shulchan aruch)

It will probably be stam yayin (unless they erect pagan alters).
Question for you - why do you pose these questions? Certainly you and many of this sites readers won't go in there.

what about the wine in the process of which it was made stam yayin which was probably handled by goyim from the vines till the stores which would include before it was cooked?

You're not sitting down with anyone to have a coffee or a beer, you're just going in there minding your own business and drinking by yourself. What exactly is the problem?

Oh please! the problem is sitting down with a gentile and having a drink so that we dont come to marry each other. When you go to starbucks with a date of your drinking buddy you choose who you're gonno sit with. If theres a gentile on the next table its not your problem.

seriously why are you guys hocking about a matter that doesn't make a difference. what is wrong with going to a starbucks and getting a plain coffee and let it be the non jews' business to sit down with a glass of wine or a beer. chances are that at least 99% percent of jews are not going to go to starbucks to get their alcoholic beverages for two reasons : 1- starbucks is only testing this idea out in 1 or 2 stores in SEATTLE and 2- what jew would pay $4 for a beer anyways if he wanted to get alcohol he would go to a normal bar where the setting is meant for alcohol not coffee.so why all the hock , find something that actually to your jewish neshamas and that will actually improve your daily lives and avodas hashem and maybe others . because i can guarrantee that more jews will be affected if you hock abooout more down to earth matters and not this mundane piece of news that starbucks is selling alcohol in one store .Even if starbucks adds this to all their stores you people would serve more purpose arguing over more pertinant issues.

Starbucks used to make OU certified coffee liqueur. It discontinued the liqueur line, but some liqueur stores are still selling the left over inventory. It was very good and for anyone who enjoys liqueur, I recommend that you buy a couple of bottles before it no longer exists. Many of the bottles from the last batch don't have an OU symbol, but the OU website says that they are certified http://www.oukosher.org/index.php/consumer/alerts/starbucks_coffee_liqueur/
