Mahwah, NJ - Small Plane Down Near Sheraton Hotel

Mahwah, NJ - Bergen County Police Department are responding to reports of a Cessna 170-B single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft that crashed at International Blvd at the parking lot of the Sheraton Hotel off NJ Route 17.

EMS are on the scene attending the pilot who has been extracted from the plane and is alive.

Aircraft is now located near the Sharp Building. BCPD to contact the FAA.

State police say the plane had taken off earlier Sunday in Westfield, Mass., and was on its way to Greenwood Lake in nearby Passaic County.

I used to fly out of Teterboro and flew near greenwood lake many times, it is very rural and can be confusing for a pilot without much experience in the area.

i don't usually comment, however with all these speculative theories...the pilot was a WOMAN and the news stated that her engine lost power and she actually made an amazing landing, tried for an open field and minimized damage for herself and others. a little credit, please.......
