Melbourne - NY Hasidic Man Killed In Accident While Visiting Family In Australia |

Rabbi Rotenberg selling his Chometz in New Squre Shul this past Year
Rabbi Rotenberg had been visiting his son in Melbourne, Australia. Details are sketchy, but Rabbi Rotenberg had apparently just finished maariv at Rabbi Becks synagogue Adass Israel Kehillah, and stepped out of shul on to the street at Hotham Street, near the Glen Eira Road intersection, when he was somehow struck by a passing motorcycle, sustaining critical brain injuries.
Doctors struggled to save his life in a three-hour emergency operation, to no avail.
VIN News has also learned that the Adass Israel Chevra Kadisha of Melbourne worked tirelessly to successfully prevent an autopsy. The U.S. State Dept And the Embassy where very helpful as well.
Tragically, Rabbi Rotenberg lost a married daughter to illness last year; Rabbi Rotenberg became a community hero of sorts upon assuming care responsibilities for his grandchildren in the aftermath of their mother’s death.
The levaya is scheduled to be held in New Square this coming Friday; the niftar is currently being transported from Australia.

Interesting. Australia has left handed traffic. Drivers keep to the left. (Unlike the US where drivers keep to the right [Right handed traffic]).
If anyone goes to England, Australia, South Africa, or any other left handed traffic country, they should remember when crossing the street to first look right then left. (Unlike the US where you look left then right).

I thought of the same thing. So many tragedies recently. I hate this time of year, may be it is a coincidence, but i wish Tisha b'Av was over! Another post said about traffic on the other side of the road, when you go abroad you have to know which side to look when you cross the road, I am from England and when I go to America or Israel I have to be so careful when I cross a road.

Yes he was a bus driver and a great man tumid bsimcha and every one loved him and was a great tzadik helping ppl and make ppl happy (obviusly a bus driver could be a tzadik as well if you do the right think)

Yes he did work in the post office for over 40 years, that was his main job I think the bus driver job was part time when he needed to fill in for other drivers, what a loss for Klal Yisroel.

the cloths you wear and the toilet you flush and the papers you read the fish you eat and the car you drive are only because some people got up early (DAVENED) put on work clothing got dirty and made it possible so you could sit and comment
if every chosid would be like hime it would be a wonderful world

Biyas haMoshiach and techiyas hameisim are not simultaneous. The Rambam says that there will be no difference between zman hazeh and yemos haMoshiach exept for the rule of the Beis David and the rebuilding, by human hands, of the Beis haMiqdash. People will still have to get up in the morning and go to work. People will still get sick and die. People will still have joys and sadness, just like it was when that last Beis haMiqdash was here. Will have corbanos,and the Shechina will again reside in the Kodesh Kodoshim, b'meheirah b'yameinu.

I repeat. Get what? That tragedies happen? That people, young and old, die on a WEEKLY basis? Of course they do. This is not to belittle the grief of the poor man's family. HaMakom yenachem es chem b'soch sha'ar aveilei Tzion v'Yerushalayim. But you. What have you learned from the tragedy? To be careful crossing the street? To do teshuva? To stop writing inane comments on this bolg? If it takes other people dying to make you realize that you too are mortal and that you too will have to face the final Din, you haven't been paying enough attention to your life.
