someone should post the transcript of Wesan Dunn of the FBI’s speech delineating some of the charges and refuting all claims of political and religious persecution. The FBI has a solid case and the Jewish community needs to distance itself from the perpetrators, not embrace them. Sure, they need to be tried, but if it quacks like a duck…
and Mr. Rosenbaum’s is the sickest charge – buying kidneys for $10,000 and reselling them for $160,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I work in healthcare with a bunch of goyim who have underlying antisemitism already and what am I going to respond to this when they ask???

At least Ben Brafman will be busy. Really sad how most of the community struggles to pay tuition and other expenses, and some guys with money feel they need to launder to save a few bucks. Give charity with your own legal money. Same exact thing happened with crook turned witness little while back and people are just too stupid. Not sure why, but I just have little sympathy for any of the people caught up on this. Theres no easy money these days, not in cash, mortgage fraud, penny stock scams, everyone gonna have to work for an honest living like the vast majoritty of us.

    As in past simmilar cases.
They round up 30 ppl. And when the smoke clears they remain with 2-3 guilty parties.
Let’s hope the 2-3 will not be the ones in our community.

the frum community has a lot of internal searching to do… ignorance of the law is no excuse. we live in a civilized society with laws in place for a reason and people who take advantage of our great country deserve to sit in prison and reflect… g-d fearing individuals would never attempt to defraud this country… My only hope is that leaders of the frum velt will take this seriously and stop dealing in shvartze businesses through supposedly tzedaka organizations. yidden now is the time to daven and give tzdaka and not just for the write – off

You should read the criminal complaint. These chevra refer to money as “gemorahs.” If they have no respect for themselves, at least, they should respect a Gemorah.
Undoubtedly, they have a beautiful shas in their fancy seforim schrank. It’s about time that this disgusting hypocricy cease. It is more important than whether to shower or not in the nine days. Shouldn’t we be a light unto nations? Where is our sense of priorities? Let peopel be happy with what they have. You don’t need milions in the bank to live.
Perhaps if people focused no a simpler lifestyle, they would not feel compelled, to make so much money illegally.

What’s going on? we live freely in the most beautiful country in the world, we should be kissing its ground, and pay, not 100% of taxes due, but 150%. The Chofetz Chaim, when sending a letter to a different town through a messenger, would rip up an equivalant amount of government stamps, so that the government would not have a loss becuse he used a messenger rather than the Post Office. That’s the example we should show our children!!

Dweck made nice with the pols and gave them money. anyone that was touched by Dweck was caught in this web. Same goes for the kidney guy. he sold a kidney and needed to kosher his treif money. follow the dots….

All i can say is this:

LET’S WAIT FOR THE AIR TO CLEAR!!!

As we have seen many times in the past when the FBI has pretended to have a “uncovered a major money bla bla bla etc” it has turned to be
    A) a VICIOUS and RUTHLESS SETUP, YES SETUP by the FBI and nothing more
    B) that a lot of the defendants are indeed innocent.

I hate to say this but it’s indeed true. This is a “medina shel chesed” up to a certain point. But when they want to make life miserable for you they can be as bad as some other vicious governments out there…

So let’s just hold judgments here until this is all over.

To little me, this does not sound like a “9 day calamity” , it sounds like the wool has been pulled from many eyes on things that have been dealt under the table for many years. People always like “a good deal” to make a quick buck but that does not mean it has to be something illegal.

People will remain innocent until proven guilty but there is no smoke without fire – at the end of it they may not be proven guilty but it doesn’t mean they acted 100% above board.

It sad that there are so many cases of corruption and money laundering in the frum community and I’m sure this list is not complete.

This is all a symptom of a failed economic model. There is no longer enough legitimate economic activity in the chareidi community to feed, clothe, provide health care and domicile the thousands of unemployed, unemployable and underemployed men and women. The young members of this community have few skills, no career goals, little education and no willingness to enter the workplace and create sustainable wealth for themselves and their children. It is going to be increasingly difficult for for functionally illiterate men and women to find real employment or entrepreneurial success in our increasingly competitive globablized world.

Under Christie the US Attorney’s office had a 100% conviction rate for public corruption. They did not lose a single case. These are the same people working there and on the investigation. They do not roll people out on a “perp walk” unless they know that they have enough solid charges that will convict people.

Couple of points to remember. The people arrested, including many career politicians in NJ, are not some average Joe Shmoes. This is highly sensitive and can be explosive for the federal government and the FBI if the FBI would arrest them on poor charges. The arrests must have been approved by the higher ups with in the Justice Department, let alone the director of the FBI himself. This means that the case was very well investigated and has solid evidence for the approval to have happen. No career FBI lawyer or an agent would risk losing that promotion if they arrested bunch of NJ politicians and the charges were bogus.

For many this is hard to accept that such an egregious crime including human organ trafficking could have been carried out by an organized criminal ring with in a Frum community. So many will deflect the issue, blame others, blame Obama, scream antisemitism, but the reality is that the frum world has to start deep soul searching. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last. Hopefully Hashem forgive. There needs to be an attitude adjustment as to how some in the frum world perceives secular law and government.

reading all of your comments your forgeting one thing those individuals listed allegedly broke many laws, they were followed, recorded, set up by people that were already caught and are turning for the government, so the government knew what they were doing, don’t defend them nor say this is all they could do to make a living, thats BS, they wanted to be the big shots in shul and within our communities.

they were looking for any easy way to make a buck, well let’s hope that others learn from this, but i bet not, face it there is no fear or leadership in our comminities that have any influence on these types of crooks.

When will people learn? This must be a very complex situation as I heard the investigation has been going on for 10 years. Meanwhile, all these “respected” people & their poor families are publicly humiliated.

Times are tough for everyone today, but 10 years ago it was the good life. So why did they have to steal & defraud? Yes, I know, innocent until proven guilty, but we all know another cliche: there’s no smoke without fire.

gulous means “m’fizer i’mefoired bein huamim”. living like a yid but camaflouged and intertwined with the host nation not puling any extra attention upon oneself. now we live in communities driving up cost of living attracting much attention especially with internal friction and forcing some to do stupid stuff to survive and then the whole community is painted with a roller brush when something goes bad. there must be major changes at the roots so we can continue to exist in freedom in gulous until our redemtion. remember we are judged to a higher standard(see the diffrence how law enforcment treats a jew as opposed to a non jew when arrested) because we impose ourselves as such to the world and rightfully so.

having served 5 months for a crim ethat was at worst case punishable with 4 months house detention.having been denied bail with the same crap excuse i had 2 options.plea bargain and get home in 5 months or go to trial and prove my innocence, spend 500k,yes that is what a fair trial cost, and would take more than a year.i let all u decide which option i took.agreeing that the system we have is the best we can do,it is still very corrupt.the 99 percent conviction is due to blackmail and plea bargaining threating to go after relatives as in enron going after his wife, and we al know how many wives dont understand the tax form they sign or the fact that they have a joint account and do bank fraud, woops, plea bargain and we leave your wife alone
the sec is so corrupt you cant imagine.our only hope are the very many honest judges, the AG’s are reshaim arrurim in most cases
in my case the senior AG said this guy should go home bu the young chinese american trying to make a name said i want him inside for 2 years, the judge scolded her for keeping me there 5 months,so what did i get out of him scolding her?
the whole perp walk and strip searches that they try to do and claim that it is all constitutional, make up rules if u do not know your rights, and i can giv etens of examples
i am not justifying everyone’s action, but between that and believing the fbi
when i was taken to court i was handcufffed and shackled at the feet accused of being a member of al-queida that wa sthe accusation with zero proof,it was a farce.yeds i broke some very unimportant laws many years ago and they finally caught up,big deal,i learnt how corrupt the system is.must people are denied bail, the high profile cases are given bail, makes the public believe in the system like all u suckers out there
bush or obama same communist system dressed up as democracy

    Rabosai:

In this great country that we live in a person is INNOCENT until proven guilty. That being said, if they did indeed do what they have been charged with, they will not only have to answer to the laws of this land but to “a higher authority” as well.

The fact that they were caught and paraded for the world to see (and labeled ‘Rabbis, though a FAR cry from it) is simply a testament to Hashem and how He runs the Universe and its history.

Bloomberg: The rabbis included Saul Kassin, 87, chief rabbi of Sharee Zion, a synagogue in Brooklyn, New York; Eliahu Ben Haim, 58, the principal rabbi of Congregation Ohel Yaacob in Deal, New Jersey; Edmond Nahum, 56, of Deal Synagogue in Deal; Mordchai Fish, 56, of Congregation Sheves Achim in Brooklyn; and Lavel Schwartz, 57, Fish’s brother.

    Syrian, Hasidic Jews

They were charged with money laundering. The rabbis are members of the Syrian Jewish or Hasidic Jewish communities, Marra said at the news conference.

“This case uncovered a web of corruption that spanned the state,” Dun said. “All of the individuals were connected through their illicit activities with the undercover witness.”

Kassin is accused of laundering more than $200,000 through Dwek from June 2007 through December 2008 by accepting “dirty checks” from the cooperator and exchanging them for “clean” checks, according to prosecutors.
    on Quote:
Do you believe a Rabbi 87 years old with a clean record did it.
Look at the dates after Dweck was busted he goes to an old Rabbi, who may even be a little passed it, & knowingly plays this on him, who knows how he threatened him, or how much Rav Kasin knew what is going on. They have nothing else on him, & this Dweck should not be a credible wittness he is a fraud to start with.
