Bayonne, NJ - Solomon Dwek mostly talked about his five kids when Bayonne Democratic Party Chairman Jason O'Donnell met with him last year in the lead-up to the Bayonne mayor's race, O'Donnell recalled.

But Dwek also mentioned his interest in building two towers in Bayonne, said O'Donnell, who at the time was working as the campaign manager for eventual winner Mark Smith.

When they later went out to the parking lot of the restaurant where they met, Dwek offered O'Donnell $5,000, according to the chairman.

"I obviously told him to go take a walk," O'Donnell said.

Until Thursday, when Dwek's name leaked as the confidential witness who helped the feds nail 44 public officials, rabbis and political operatives as part of a corruption and money laundering bust, "I never thought of it again - I just thought it was a fast and loose play from Manhattan," added the chairman.

I wish i would have an answer to the following question:

Did the (pathetic and rotten) FBI give Dwek a list of names of whom to go after or did he just decide on his own???

It just doesn't make sense to me that he would try to entrap s/o like Rabbi Kassen and some of the others...

Does anybody have the answer??

I am convinced that they gave him a list, because the FBI are a bunch of jew hating bastards.

I don't think it will be easy to find out the answer .. But my heart tells me that the fbi gave him the names.
One would have to hope that he would not have 'chosen' family and community member on his own accord.

it seems like he went to just about every well-known politician and Rabbi. Definately was entrapment. by the way, it says in the gemorah that to a moser- we are supposed to throw them in a mikvah with bricks tied on to them(that would be too nice of a punishment for that ...)

They didn’t have to give him names. After seeing the “GLEE” in the entrapper’s eyes for having bagged a big fish, he knew exactly how, and with who to please his handlers.

I haven’t been by my computer since Friday, and tried to read as much comments written since then as possible. While many Tiereh Yidden are writing here with blood and angst, there are many rotten, disgusting Jews writing here too. I would love to believe that those “rotten Jews” are happenchance writers from the mid West, but my gut feeling is that we have “Rishoyim” among our midst, who are willing and able to do what Duek did.

The Mussar Haskel here is that we are “still” in Golus, and billions of eyes are watching us on every step we take. I know people who go to the extreme with punching out (the clock) when they go to the bathroom; on the other hand people (Jew and Gentile alike), sometimes go easy when it comes to “victimless” crimes and minimal tax evasion (like not paying taxes for the snow shovelers).

Barry Gray used to tell the story of someone approaching a woman and asking if she would cohabitate with him for a million dollars; she answers yes. Then he asks her, how about for a hundred dollars; she answers: “what do you think, I’m a whore”? He answers “THAT we know already – now we’re only negotiating the price”!

“Luring”, “baiting”, “tempting”, “framing”, “entrapping” people should be outlawed once and for all. The FBI is there to catch criminals - NOT MAKE THEM!

does anyone know if the law allows for us to access the tactics and setup used, on the flipside of the complaint.
ie. they in the complaint allege that on this and this day at this and this place.... such took place.
they then tell you the part the arrested individual played.

do they have to tell what they did, like the comments seem to indicate. they approached individuals at times of vulnerability and weakness, when they were inclined to have compassion on him and his extended family.

1-rabbi katzin, being begged on erev yom kippur to help him put bread on the table.
2-rabbi ben haim his own brothers father in law. to have rachmanut on his own flesh and blood.
3-rabbi nahum who is busy with the community day and night from within the walls of the shul. doesnt stop helping all in need. who is a close family friend and much more.
4-what about the Lakewooders who said no. when they were approached can they be made known. like the realtor. who was begged many times to help him out.
5-what does all this have to do with the organ man. why is it lumped together. were they connected? no.!
6-many such points lead us to believe that the sting of bait and catch was religiously motiviated.

while some claim anti semitism, and others say dina demalchusa.

we all agree that they remain innocent till proven guilty.

yet it seems all agree a chillul hashem it is, and i ask why perhaps it should be a chillul hashem only when convicted of a crime....

If the FBi gave names of people that they didn't have any reason to be suspiscious of, the FBI is a criminal organization. If the FBI had a reason to catch anybody because they had proof to believe any of this people were taking bribes or where laundering money it is another case.
If it comes out that it was the first possibility or a mix of both, they should be sued for creating the situation and processed for what they did

A few points
1. The FBI is considered a world class investigative organization they don’t need to arrest a few rabbis to get recognition.
2. Usually they do go after someone if they have good reason to believe the person is involved in elicit activities.
3. The fact that they arrested Rabbis is news worthy, and if it was not slashed all over the news them what do you think the real anti-smites will say, that we control the media is noting new, but now they could say we control the FBI too, the news that Rabbis were arrested was suppressed.
4. Some of you claim that the FBI was actually planning the setup just to show that the Jews are guilty too. Well theses people had a chance to say no, and indeed it seems a few did thank Hashem, good for them, but the rest, sorry if the person is willing to help in illegal activities they should go to jail as long they had a fair trial.
5. Some of you are justifying with the excuse that CW begged for money to feed his family. Two points first in the affidavit if was reported the opposite, he claimed he is making this huge profits from the handbags knockoff business, making a profit/commission of a few hundred dollars a month that don’t sound like he was begging for food. Furthermore, even if is true that he needed money why didn’t they just help CH with food on the table, like any Jew suppose to do, when somebody ask for food.
6. As to the human organ trading some of you try to use the pikuach nefesh excuse, here you got me totally frustrated the alleged buyer was not even Jewish she is a FBI agent, guys get a grip on yourself.
7. Some excuses are, well the operation/ doctors cost money the defendant would have not made that much money, well just listen to yourself, this excuse sounds like this, well the bank robber only got a bag with $500.00 and a explosive red dye in the bag and by the way he needed the money for his old and frail mother, therefore we should give him a medal.

I could go on and on but that will not help us here, we need to stop always giving excuses for any Jew, no matter what he/she did, throwing rocks because of a parking lot, is ok, burning garbage bins because some woman was charged with child endangerment, is ok, use a constructed building without a court order, is ok, run around and play fireman without the prerequisite training is ok. It is high time that we really look at ourselves if we want to actually walk the walk, or just talk the talk.

As many have pointed out, the likely (only) reason some turned their back on this Drek, is (only) because he didn't offer them a 1,000 times more than he did.

If he had offered them a million or more in cash, no one would refuse.

As for the very close relatives who turned him away, they knew that he was likely an informant, because unlike the others, who were duped, the CLOSE relatives knew, what a shtik drek, he is, that he would sell his own mother for a dollar.

we don't have to excuse every crime, but don't be so naive and believe a word what you said about this noble org. FBI. First of all they crave for attention and for headlines in the news like any other human being, they are flesh and blood like all of us.
don't kid yourself, this story stinks from head to toe, so many loopholes, and the "systematical" entrapment spree, running after so many people!
and the fact that this Dwek is a massive criminal, defrauded a bank of 50 million dollars, and they are willing to let him off the hook for what? for a total crimes of 3 million between 44 people, in a span of 2 years!

Actually there is no contradiction. There were some who did it just to make money but others whom he sold a different story. He lied differently to different people, playing on their weakness. For example Rabbi Kasin, would have Rachmones on him, only on Erev Yom Kipur, after having refused him repeatedly before.

Thank you for your remarks. I did go back and read indictment of Rabbi Kasin, I think that there is a strong possibility that he did not understand what the bankruptcy story implication was and yes he might had in his mind that he needed to help a fellow Jew, and the main reasons why I think that it makes sense, he cashed every two months a check for $25,000 which is not a lot of money, if the tapes reflect only what is on the indictment he could be easily found not guilty. However, all the others he told them specifically about the handbags and bankruptcy in detail sorry no question about it. One thing you are right he played on there weakness, but do you know what their weakness was, Money.

One thing you are right he played on there weakness, but do you know what their weakness was, Money.

i'll say it again, as much as we may think we know, we DO NOT know what really happened. hashem is the only judge, and for good reason - only he really knows!!! their weakness was money, do u think the rabbis bought themselves million dollar mansions, or private yachts? LOL! these ppl are tzaddikim - they gave their lives for the community. u have NO IDEA what their lives consist of. being a rav is not an easy job, how many calls they get a day for help. especially these days, with so many men losing their jobs who have a family to support! they are rabbis in my community and i know - they are ALWAYS there! this "money" that u seem so sure was their yetzer hara, did NOT buy them gucci shoes!!!!!
again, may HKB"H be a kinder judge to you this coming tishrei than you have been to these holy rabbanim! hashem yerachem!

I love the apologetics here in favor of the Rabbis. It really takes someone with major ahavas gelt and little yiras shamayom to justify money laundering, calling money "gemoros" and marking up kidneys for 1600%. Mussar to the likes of you is like apples and oranges.

I happen to know for a fact that when arresting these rabbis the FBI did so with a great deal of respect...each one was permitted to shower and change and even daven before the agents took them from their homes. The agents waited for oven an hour for some of them. They did not even put handcuffs on Rabbi Kassin out of respect for him. They had a job to do and they did it. You can't blame them for it. We all know who's fault it is....

Say whatever you want the tapes will speaks for itself, we will know exactly what did or didn’t happened. I am sure the FBI did not sign an affidavit with lies when they know they will have to turn over the recordings during discovery/trial.

They gave him a list Says:

I am convinced that they gave him a list, because the FBI are a bunch of jew hating bastards.

No, you are an ungrateful bastard for thinking that. If it were not for the FBI, I might have been blown up by terrorists while praying at the Riverdale Jewish Center. You wouldn't have wanted that, would you?

Would you?

Yes, this *is* personal. I, an Orthodox Jew, may owe my life to the FBI.

Askupehleh,
You said: "... I would love to believe that those “rotten Jews” are happenchance writers from the mid West ..."
Are you casting aspersions on Acheinu B'nei Midwest, or, are you saying that the midwestern posters are Areilim posing as B'nei Bris?
If it's the former, please read further, otherwise, please disregard the rest of this post.
Ignorance, xenophobia and Achzoriyus exist in all communities, even in our East Coast K'hilois Hakoidesh, unfortunately.

Please review some history ... why was the 2nd Beis Hamikdosh destroyed?

I meant the latter. I would never Chas Vesholom cast aspersions on any group of Yidden whatsoever, and surely not on Acheinu B'nei Midwest who I have for them the utmost respect.

I used Midwest as an example of (non Jewish) Jew haters, although we have enough here in New York, but they are more refined in their hatred, due to having grown up with Jews.

Sorry for the misconception, dear brother from the Mid-West.

I apologize for the intemperate language in the first sentence here. I regret writing it.

I still feel a huge amount of gratitude to the FBI and object to characterizing them as anti-Semitic. But my language was inappropriate.
