New Jersey - Jack Shaw of Jersey City, one of the 44 people arrested in Thursday's massive New Jersey corruption scandal, was found dead in his apartment this evening, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio has confirmed.

A relative found the 61-year-old political consultant's body, De Fazio said.

Police were called at 5:17 p.m. and Shaw was officially declared dead at 6 p.m.

Homicide investigators as well as the regular police contingent responded, DeFazio said, noting that no weapon was found.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death, he said.

In the criminal complaint against Shaw, he is accused of taking $10,000 from the government informant for himself and an additional $10,000 in campaign contribution for an unnamed Jersey City official.

The longtime consultant had been a keen observer of the rough-and-tumble world of Hudson County politics for decades.

I hope the stress didn't give this man a heart attack or cause him to take his own life. He may have violated the law, but this was not a capital offense. My heart goes out to his family.

You have to figure that there are plenty of people who did not get caught... this time. These thugs will not go down without a fight and killing off other possible informants should be expected. Crime never pays.

The FBI are a bunch of cowards going after such petty crime, why don't they focus on terror and violent crime instead arresting old men for taking little bribes.

I guess the mob is involved in this case, or maybe the FBI killed him, now before you start shouting that im stupid and paranoid, please bear in mind that the "holy fbi" is just like the mob, the only difference is that they are a mob with a license to kill. I hope they have an end like all other enemies of gods children.

They should make a movie about this story;a novelist could not have written a better story. With the profits, they could pay off all the debts and legal fees.

Why do you condone corruption? Jews who steal are no better than non-Jes who steal. It is unfortunate that the way law enforcement conducts stings requires an informant. However, that in no way excuses the alleged behavior of the men who were arrested. Why are many on here blaming Dweck? If no one agreed to participate in his illegal activities, there wouldn't be arrests....

he is only the first victims to die from the wounds inflicted by the FBI this past bloody thursday !
Is there any place we can see how many people the FBI already killed or how many good booming businesses they closed down?! or how many innocent lives they ruined?! how many innocent lives they destroyed?! how many families they destroyed?! how many kids are growing up violent criminals because the FBI took away their parents?!
And everything in the name of law!
