Brooklyn, NY - Two citations issued to arrested pug owner Chrissie Brodigan were dismissed today in a hearing at the MTA's Transit Adjudication Bureau. Hearing Officer Alexander Fox ruled the citations—one for failure to provide identification and another for failure to have dog in a container—were invalid because they had been "materially altered" by Officer Joel Witriol, who was absent from the hearing. Copies of the tickets given to Brodigan list 3:51 p.m. as the time the citations were issued, but official copies turned in by Officer Witriol to the Bureau showed the time was crossed out and changed to 4:51 p.m.

Such after-the-fact alterations can automatically invalidate a ticket, which Brodigan thinks wasn't an accident, "It is hard for me to believe that Officer Witriol did not realize that by altering my citations after he gave them to me that he was essentially invalidating all of them." Brodigan—who is still looking for work after being fired from her Plum TV job as a result of the arrest fallout—was also disappointed Witriol did not appear (and therefore could not be questioned) at the hearing.

She has filed a complaint against the officer with the NYPD's Civilian Complaint Review Board, which may consider the invalid tickets during its investigation of misconduct. A third charge against Brodigan for disorderly conduct is still pending and will be heard in criminal court in late August.

I was looking to open a petition to send this bigot Chrissie Brodigan back to her hometown in Virginia, as many Brooklynites have openly expressed that she is no longer welcomed in our town.
And kudos to Plum TV for dismissing her from her job.

Why not? What’s wrong to protect & serve, it’s a job that he chose & we wish him good luck, any one that does not like it should not apply, simple. (You can say that maybe according to "Pirkay Avos" it’s not recommended, but never the less it’s not Usur)

Although I don't drive or carry photo ID w/ me, it's to protect us from petty criminals like her, who in order not to get ticketed claim not to have Id. I wish they'd start using it against cyclists who break the law. Since they don't have license plates, it's hard to ticket them for offenses such as passing school buses with lights flashing. But because of this law, even if they claim no ID, they can still be ticketed for something...

You do not have to have ID to ride the subway, but if you commit an offense you will get ticketed if you refuse to show ID when requested. Not having ID is a NOT defense but just being obnoxious and not showing is a $60 fine,

the law is that when someone commits a infraction even a small one police are given the permission to issue summonses. if the respondent does not have id there is no way to know that this is who the person is. police officers cant just trust everyone with any name and date of birth they give, so the respondent has to be taken to the
station house to get a positive id throught fingerprint or by having someone show up there with the persons id
