Continental is loading its jets with satellite TV so fliers can watch what they want, live, at their seats. (Continental Airlines)
JetBlue, Virgin America and Frontier have already outfitted planes with TV screens
that pick up programs in real time -- as opposed to taped programming -- USA Today reported
Thursday.
Continental said it would charge passengers in coach $6 for the service, while providing it free of charge to first-class fliers.

The airline said it would have 220 planes outfitted with televisions providing passengers with 77 channels to choose from within the next 12 months.

It is also not factually accurate as Delta Airlines is the first to offer live satellite TV and they have done so for many years

why? Beacause even though you might be holier than the rest of us, when I shop for a flight, I will fly JetBlue even if more expensive because I can watch TV instead of looking at the neck of the guy in fromt of me for 3 hours.
Now because of this article, I will consider continental equally (they still dont have leather seats, though)

I flew with Continental a couple of weeks ago and they already had these TVs on the plane. I paid $6 for it, great entertainment for a 5 hour flight.

Satellite TV has become one of the greatest technological inventions of today. Only few years back cable tv operators had a monopoly in the pay television industry, and within that time frame there are 30 million satellite TV subscribers.

No it is not factual, Legend Airlines was the first to offer live tv on airplanes but since they went belly up before the product was recognized it almost went belly up with Legend. The first airline to offer this service was Jetblue, and has been using it for quite some time now. Delta did offer it on their defunct Song affiliate and continue to offer it on some Delta aircraft. Continental is offering an all new system from the same company that does Jetblue's, Frontier's, Westjet's and several others world wide.
