Israel - Charedi businessman and Shufersal Co-Chairman Shulem Fisher, who had previously voiced strong objections to businesses being open on Shabbat, is due to partner up in British Israel Investments Ltd. whose shopping centers are open on Saturdays.

British Israel is planning to purchase Iris Hagilboa Construction and Development Ltd. owned by Fisher and the Bronfman family. Bronfman Fisher Investments are slated to sell Iris Hagilboa, which owns the Ikea compound in Rishon Lezion, in exchange for 10% of holdings in British Israel.

Among its other businesses, British Israel runs the Queen of Sheba mall in Eilat, stores in the Bilu junction, food courts and amusement rides in the Grand Canyon mall in Haifa and movie theaters and food courts in the Avnat mall in Petah Tikva - all of which are operated on Shabbat.

One of the reasons for Bronfman Fisher Investments' withdrawal from the partnership with Blue Square's Dudi Weissman four years ago was the fact that Weissman owns the AM:PM chain, which is open on Saturdays.

However, the holdings that Bronfman and Fisher will get from the sale of Iris Hagilboa to British Israel will be divided between the two, such that Fisher himself will only hold a small amount of British Israel shares.

A spokesman for Bronfman Fisher Investments commented that the group will hold British Israel minority stakes, "This is a financial investment without any involvement in management."

Really interesting, I know Yaakov Shulem personally, he has a heart of gold, and he's a VERY Frum Yid. I'm sure that if his Rabbi (which happens to be my Rabbi too) tells him not to buy in, he won't, and I'm sure he didn't do anything without asking his Rabbi, cuz he never made a business deal without asking his Rabbi.

I hope and pray for him that he should be succesful in this and all his business deals, so He should be able to continue to give the enormous ammounts of Tzedaka he already does. May Hashem be in all his ways, and guide him in the right direction...

Please try not to be so critical. It may be fine if he's just an invester. For example, anyone with a mutual fund, 401(k), etc. is invested in some company that does business on Shabbat.

"A kanoi with someone elses money"?!?!?

Do you know how to read? He left the "Blue Square" partnership, because they had a chainstore AM:PM that was open Shabbos, he lost tons of money!!! I'm not sure if you know, but the "Blue Square" owns: "Shefa Shuk" "Blue Square Security" "Mega" "AM:PM" and much much more, He left that all, in order not to Chas V'shulom desecrate Shabbos, I envy his Oilam Haboh. I'm sure he asked his Rabbi which I know is a great Tzadik, and if he's agreeing to the deal, that means that his Rabbi is too.

Please stop accusing a 100% Kosher Jew.

But I'm not protesting their being open! He did! do you not see the hypocrisy? He complained when someone else was making money off of shabbos' back. But now he wants to do the same!

I dont' think we should be so judgmental of each other. If you are judgmental of your fellow Jew, then perhaps Hashem will be judgmental of you when it is time. Please, rabosai, let us be tolerant of each other and be dan l'kaf schus. That is the only way.

I know this guy and whatever the case is, I don't thing it's right to report him in public. He's extremely nice, and doesn't do a thing without his Rebbe's advice who is a big Tzaddik. Also, he helps his partner Bronfman getting closer to Yiddishkeit.

If you know him why dont you give your name out. Your spelling "cuz he never made a business deal without asking his Rabbi." gives you away as a story-fabricator.

The Eida/Badatz does not pull their Kosher Certificate on company's whose division (AM/PM)are open shabbos. A shtar mechira (which is given rampantly nowadays) works wonders.

Can't you read what it says in the report? He canceled out of the "Blue Square" because they were open on Shabbos!!! He didn't tell anybody what to do, he just backed himself out!!!

And just for the record, it was his Rabbi that gave him the idea...

Well I won't give out my name just as much as you won't give out your name. But his Rabbi is the Erloyer Rabbi in Katamon Jerusalem, lives on Rachov Mishmar Ha'am 11, do you need anymore info, or am I gonna sound like a "story fabricator" whatever I say???

As I always say, when it comes to money we see who truely is a Chareidi Jew and who is't!
For those who find excuses nd loopholes to evade the strict business holochos, isn't worth to be called a frum or chareidi Jew. All they are after is money and not Torah and Mitzvos!
The Erev Rav is everywhere and isn't shying away from being called religious or even Rabbi!
