The ultra-Orthodox protestors blocked roads in the area and clashed with secular demonstrators presented at the site to support the disputed parking lot’s opening.

At least 14 haredim were arrested, while others clashed with police forces preventing them from making their way to the parking lot.

The latest protests are reportedly more violent than usual and have drawn numerous teenagers and children. Several vehicles traveling on the road leading to the parking lot were attacked by haredim who pounded the cars, while others hurled stones, eggs and plastic bottles at police, secular protestors, and journalists.

The secular protestors included several groups of Jerusalem youngsters who arrived at the site with Israeli flags. The demonstrators slammed Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch’s efforts to compromise with anti-Zionist Orthodox sect leaders.

“It makes no sense that he is sitting down with the haredim…he apparently forgot that he was against them before the elections. Yet suddenly he is here to listen to a group of anti-Zionists who oppose the state’s existence,” activist Nir Pereg said.

    ‘Police attitude too lenient’
Pereg also accused police of adopting a lenient attitude towards haredi rioters in the capital.

“In no other protest in Jerusalem have we seen so few detainees,” he said. “How could it be that Mayor Barkat is attacked at the Mea Shearim neighborhood and not even one arrest follows the incident?”

The latest clashes in Jerusalem got underway earlier Saturday, after several hundred ultra-Orthodox attempted to block the entrance to disputed parking lot around noon.

At least two haredim were arrested earlier and one police officer sustained light hand wounds in the clashes. The officer was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. During the earlier clashes, some 200 haredim arrived at a nearby intersection in a bid to march towards the disputed parking lot, but were blocked by security forces.

watch the video on Jpost.com. of a Chareidi man yelling “Nazi” at Jewish police. It made my blood boil and if I had any compassion or understanding with the protesters, it is now all lost. These Chareidim are simple lunatics and unfortunately, some of them are going to get seriously hurt if it continues. Where is the leadership of the Torah world to put a stop to the lunacy?

The police DO look like Nazis, dragging Yidden in Taleisim. Strangely, the news reports the “violence” of Chareidim, but when you see videos and/or photos, all you see is police dragging, pushing, or beating the protesters.

just out of pure curiosity, by protesting aren’t these individuals provoking video/ cameras to be used, as well as more jewish policemen to work on shabbos, how would this shtim with rav elyashiv shlit”a s recent psak?

We do not have the upper hand in Jerusalem. We are still wating for Moshiach to come. We are still in Golis. Do not fight with the police. You will not win them. They are stronger than you. Go to the Beis Hamedresh and learn. There is plenty what to do on the holyest day of the week. Stay away from making chilel hashem. Be busy with yourself fighting your Yetzer Hora. Learn Peyrek Daf Yomi Chumish Rashi say Thehilim Ein Yakov sing Zemiros. There is plenty what to do on Shabos Kodesh.

This is the most retarded thing I have ever seen. What do they accomplish with this stupid shrayen “Shabbes!” I don’t believe that in all the years of shrayen “Shabbes” and throwing objects that even one person has been inspired to become a baal tshuvah.

Now if they would pass out kiddush schnapps and kugel, get somebody to make a brocha, that would be something positive!

Why don’t they ever protest against terroris attacks? Did they protest when 8 Yeshiva boys were murdered at Mercaz Harav? If they showed they cared about fellow Jews, then maybe someone would take them seriously.

These protests make me sick… Can we ask them nicely to stop these crazy protests??? Why are the Rabonim not saying anything to stop it?? The Rabonim of these Beheimas are only for the money, they are a bunch of Ganuvim, only when it comes to their pockets will they say some something… I’m going to throw up…. Disgusting!!
    I’m ashamed as a Jew!

Perhaps the best part of the arrests of these rioters is that they are forced to ride in the police vans on shabbos on the way to jail. It is ironic that they deliberately provoke the police to get themselves arrested so they can ride to jail. For yidden who are screaming about shabbos kodesh, its poetic justice to seem them being mechalel shabbos themselves.

A few suggestions to the police fighting these hooligans:

    1. Use massive & unrelenting force against them, including the skunk sprays & colored water jets on their clothing.
    2. Bring down the Eruv near Mea Shearim, so that these hooligans will be unable to carry weapons & eggs & diapers to be used against the general public & police
    3. Install motion-sensor operated spot-lights so that when the hareidim come close by, they will switch on these lights & break Shabbat themselves

Yes, that is precisely what every good, law abiding, observant Jew does in respect for Shabbat. Go out and demonstrate against something that has absolutely nothing to do with you or your life. Act like a bunch of idiotic, uneducated, non observant terrorists and make sure that other Jews have strife in their lives and make certain that the world sees what a true ignoramus is.

My heart breaks at this video. The protesters look and act like psychotics and violent ones at that. What are they accomplishing? The way to inculcate Shabbos into the hearts of non-frum is a Shabbos meal in one’s home, the people who go to the Kotel on Friday night looking for lost souls. They are making the Kiddush Hashem. I would imagine that these protests (riots) are planned all week. And yes, the motive appears very nepharious at best.
More Rabbonim, Rebbes, leaders must speak out vociferously against this horrible scene week after week. If these hooligans are the face of Chareidim, count me out.

After watching these ‘nut cases’ week after week i have come to one conclusion. To make things look good for the majority of their lives they pretend to love/live Torah and its teachings, while inside they are just waiting for a poor excuse, any excuse, to show their frustrations in life. If they want to riot and protest so much, send them out against the millions of moslems who want to kill Jews, and at least there they wont be hurting other Jews.

I think these people hate the medina so much they are trying to destroy Israel from the inside out. Instead of spending so much time worrying about what Obama does, anyone who cares about Israel needs to tackle this growing extemism and lack of tolerance head on or Israel will need a three-state solution. I wonder how a state made up just of charedis would fare with no secular education, no modern industry, no advanced healthcare, no army, no farmers.
