This year, September 11th has been officially designated a “National Day of Service and Remembrance.”

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Governor David Paterson, Former Governor George Pataki, New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, and Vice President Joe Biden are joining survivors and family members of victims at Zuccotti Park, across the street from the World Trade Center site, for the ceremony.

There will be five moments of silence, including pauses at the exact time each of the two planes hit the towers, and when each of the towers fell.

Family members will be paired with volunteers from the five boroughs to read the names of those who died in the attack.

President Barack Obama will join families for a service at the Pentagon to remember the 184 people who died when a jet slammed into the building.

A wreath will be laid at the Pentagon memorial during the ceremony.

Thousands are also expected to gather for a ceremony to remember the 40 victims of United Flight 93 that went down in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The names of the plane’s passengers and crew are set to be read at 10:03a.m., the time the plane crashed.

Obama is marking the first September 11th anniversary of his presidency by sharing his thoughts about the day and the steps he’s taking to protect the country.

    Watch the ceremony live.

What is a bigger crime the actions perpetrated on 9/11 or our government’s inept handling of the response?

GWBush started out on the right track: Shock & Awe the enemies of civilization. Crush their armies and the weapons that traitorous Westerners have sold them. Bring their fascist spokesmen to Justice.
But then Bush got sidetracked in the nation-building “hope and change” folks who Hope that the Muslim Islamofascist hate-mongers will Change their bloodthirsty ways, expunge the hatred from their textbooks, raise their sons to be mensches rather than terrorists.

That’s not happening. This is a war against civilization, not a simple disagreement.
