Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds up a document outlining plans for the Auschwitz death camp as he addresses the 64th United Nations General Assembly at U.N. headquarters in New York, September 24, 2009. REUTERS/Ray StubblebineUnited Nations, NY – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a blistering attack on the floor of the United Nations Thursday on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, saying the hearing granted the Iranian president the night before amounted to a “disgrace of the U.N. charter.”

Mr. Netanyahu dramatically held up copies of minutes of the meeting of Nazi officials in 1942 where plans were made for the extermination of the Jews, as well as constructions plans of Nazi concentration camps.

“Are these protocols lies?” he asked, waving them in his hand. “Are the successive German governments that have kept these documents for posterity all liars?”

He opened his remarks by saying that the greatest threat to the U.N. effort to prevent a repetition of the carnage of the World War II is the “assault on truth.”

“Yesterday the president of Iran stood at this very podium and spewed his anti-Semitic rants,” he said. “Just a few days earlier he claimed that the Holocaust was a lie.” He then described how he had obtained the documents he held up before the assembly.

“Nearly one-third of all Jews at the time perished in the Holocaust,” he said. “Nearly every family was affected, including my own.”

“To those who gave this Holocaust denier a hearing, I say on behalf of my people. … Have you no shame? Have you no decency?” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu scolded the United Nations for giving the Iranian president “legitimacy” just six decades after the Holocaust. Ahmadinejad addressed the body Wednesday, and in the run-up to the session repeated his belief that the Holocaust is a myth.

“What a disgrace,” Netanyahu said. “What a mockery of the charter of the United Nations.”

He also accused the United Nations of remaining silent on the attacks on Israelis from Hamas.

Ah Kish Oif Dein Kepele. He is the best spokesman Israel has today. Does anyone still remember such orators like Menachem Begin or Yosef Tekoa? Sharp tongued Ambassador Yosef Tekoa wiped the floors with the Soviet Union, and it prompted their request for his removal.

Bibi is showing his American roots. Here is a line from lawyer Joseph Welch to Senator Joseph McCarthy at the Army-McCarthy hearings of June 9, 1954:

Mr. Welch: You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

Certainly Ahmadinejad’s comments about the Holocaust are unacceptable. But is Netanyahu’s warmongering any better? Comparing today’s Iran to Nazi Germany, insisting (falsely) that Iran “promises to wipe out the state of Israel,” and claiming that Israel is “charged” with preventing “another” attempted “extermination” of Jews — is it any secret what these wild claims are meant to promote? Armed to the teeth as always, Israel has just shown its hand by extraordinary brutality in Gaza. Are we really prepared to support yet another bloody assault from the folks who gave us that parade of atrocities — and who still refuse to face the truth about it?

OK there was no holocaust-=the pictures are all fake and the survivors are all liars.
By the way, there was never slavery in America. Our founding fathers would never have stood for such an atrocity. Today’s black Americans are all descended from travelers who arrived aboard luxury ships and found life here so pleasant that they decided to stay. That whole civil rights thing was a farce-there were never any second class citizens, government-enforced segregation, or discrimination. Surely, that should be cleared up in the hallowed hall of the greatly respected, truth-seeking, always fair and even-handed United Nations!

I like how they showed the German delegation when he was speaking and Israeli delegation. Lieberman was looking around like a sniper. The only people in Israeli politics who are very articulate today are Bibi, Mark Regev, Dan Gillerman, and Danny Ayalon. Bibi received his education in Harvard so he is very sharp with world history. But no one will ever replace Aaba Eban!! Aba Eban was a gift full of wisdom and oratory skills. No statesman in the 20th and 21 century will ever compare to Aba Eban.
