Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation SynagogueEdinburgh, UK - A teenager who smashed windows at an Edinburgh synagogue has been ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.
Junaid Javed, 17, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court where he admitted maliciously breaking eight panes of glass in the front windows at Salisbury Hebrew Congregation Synagogue at the city’s Salisbury Place.
Defence agent Peter O’Neill told the court Javed had visited the Rabbi at the Synagogue to apologise.
Sheriff Derrick McIntyre told Javed: “This is disgraceful behaviour.”
He ordered the teenager, of Minto Street, Edinburgh, to pay the compensation at £10 a week until he gets a job.

First we have an Irish comedian making vulgar jokes about the Holocaust, now we have a Scottish teenager breaking Shuls windows. Anyone see a pattern?

Get a grip on yourself. First, an incident of poor taste in Ireland followed by an incident of vandalism in Scotland do not make a "pattern." Second, calling a dude named Junaid Javed a "Scottish teenager" is almost like calling the Vilna Gaon a "Lithuanian theologian." This is a Muslim youth damaging Jewish property (and, no doubt, you could find a pattern there). In any case, Scotland has the distinction of being one of the few countries in Europe never to have shed Jewish blood. Plus, they invented Scotch whisky, so don't diss them on my watch. Got it?

Scotland's history is not completely pure in it's relationship with Jews as your comments might lead readers to believe. 1) In 1190 the Bishop of Glascow forbade churchmen to "ledge their benefices for money borrowed from Jews." 2) Currently the Church of Scotland backs Islamic Sharia law courts. 3) There were never very many Jews in Scotland, so bigotry was diverted away from Jews by anti-Catholicism, in other words there were more Irish to hate than Jews. 4) Finally, Scotland currently has a strong Palesinian Solidarity campaign, led by the likes of George Galloway. This last fact probably makes Scotland popular with our NK and Satmar readers.
I do agree with you on one thing, about the Scotch whisky. L'chaim!
