Washington – U.S. Furious Over Israeli Incitement Against Obama

Washington – The U.S. administration is furious over Israeli incitement against President Barack Obama, Democratic congressmen close to Obama told an Israeli source who returned from a visit to Washington this week.

The congressmen even hinted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been personally involved.

The source, who met in Washington with administration officials and members of Congress, told Haaretz he was stunned by the level of anger there over attempts to portray Obama to the American public as an enemy of Israel because of his efforts to restart peace talks and freeze settlement construction.

“There are people here who are playing with fire by damaging our relationship with the U.S.,” the source said.

Last month’s summit in New York between Obama, Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas also reduced Washington’s expectations of a speedy resumption of final-status talks between Israel and the PA. While U.S. envoy George Mitchell will meet Netanyahu again Friday, the meeting is not expected to resolve the crisis in Israeli-Palestinian relations.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah of Jordan warned Washington recently that Israel’s settlement policy in East Jerusalem is undermining the stability of Israeli-Jordanian relations.

He also ordered the Jordanian embassy in Israel to submit an official protest to the Foreign Ministry over a plan to build a new Jewish neighborhood on lands belonging to the East Jerusalem village of Walaja.

Finally, he warned against opening the Mughrabi Gate leading to the Temple Mount after the Jewish holidays end next week, and against using planned renovations to change the status quo on the site.

A senior official in Amman told Haaretz this week that the clashes between Israel and the Palestinians in Jerusalem are causing unrest throughout Jordan and encouraging extremists. During Israel’s operation in Gaza this January, he said, there were no fewer than 600 anti-Israel demonstrations in Jordan – several times the number registered in the West Bank during those same weeks.

Abdullah himself sought to use his his exclusive interview with Haaretz to rouse Israeli public opinion from its apathy about the freeze in the peace process and the government’s support for rightist groups that seek to deepen Jewish control over Jerusalem’s Old City and its environs. Amman is concerned that Abbas’ growing weakness, along with the lack of progress despite Mitchell’s many visits to the region, will increase pressure on the Arab League to suspend the peace initiative it adopted in March 2002.

Hopefully, after seeing the world support for Obamam’s peace initiatives as recognized by the Nobel peace prize, there will be reconsideration of what appears to be a calculated effort to distance itself from the last and only real friend EY has left in the world. If they really believe they can “go it alone” and without U.S. support, we are really at the cusp, C’ Vh, of a real catasrophe.

They don’t seem to be overly concerned with incitement from the right or the tax protestors.

its actually disgusting the way some in the israeli media have painted the leader of america – is raels best friend and ally , as a devil when he hasnt done anything wrong or to deserve it. his rhetoric is no different – and thus far even TAMER and less harsh pressure than george w. bush was and yet people have invented this theme that he is so bad.
they shouldnt bite the hand that feeds.

#3, you think Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a friend of Israel? I suppose you would have been one of the German Jews who thought Germany was safe for them. It must be nice to live in the State of Denial.

True we dont need to antagonize but lets put things in perspective. We dont need a President who orders and dictates to the Jewish People. Let him do that with England France Mexico and Canada. We are a sovereign people. We trust in our source of Blessings which comes from Hakodoish Boruch Hu.and our FIRST obligations are towards the safety and freedom of our own people on our own land.

As a Christian American, I want to let you know that conservatives, independents, libertarians and democrats (that have snapped out of their leftist trance) consider Bibi to now be the leader of the free world (your dignified speech at the UN to a bunch of freaks and kooks was admirable). Apparently some people in this world are still drinking the kool-aid, because O hasn’t done ANYTHING to deserve the NPP…however, since Carter and Arafat are previous recipients, then maybe he DOES belong! ISRAEL…WE THE PEOPLE of America weep for you and for us in this horrible time. We are fighting back as hard as we can to rid America of her enemy. You are God’s chosen people, and we are with you in spirit. God bless America…and God bless Israel.

Why is there no story on the much bigger news of President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, the first President in 90 years to be so honored?

America’s enemies are not happy. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid was quoted as saying, “We have seen no change in his strategy for peace. He has done nothing for peace in Afghanistan….We condemn the award of the Nobel Peace Prize for Obama.”

Just another verbal missile by Emanuel hurled at Israel in an attempt to intimidate Netanyahu and patronize the arabs. It will not be successful. Sooner or later (probably much later) Obama will realize that appeasement does not bring positive results. He’ll probbalt try to use this phony prize to reassert his weaknesses in the international community.

Considering that Mr. Obama’s foriegn policy thus far consists of slapping down friends and rewarding enemies. Perhaps this is not a bad idea. If you threaten Obama he backs off, but if you smile at him he gives you a couple of non compatible DVD’s and tries his best to humiliate you.Israel has got to go rouge and then get concessions to “reset”.

First and foremost, I remind you that the Jews are an extremely diverse group of people loosely united by the way they wish to worship. No one speaks for all Israelis, and certainly not for all Jews in the diaspora. Like so many presidents before him, Obama thinks he can solve the Middle East crisis and like all of his predecessors, he will fail because he either does not understand, or chooses to ignore, the true nature of the situation. In their great wisdom, or lack thereof, the UN created a small state as a safe-haven for the Jews, and then completely ignored what any fool could have predicted as the outcome.Had they really wanted this experiment to succeed, they might have offered a little security to this tiny nation surrounded by enemies who swore to rid the land of all Jews. No one, especially the Jews themselves, ever expected Israel to be able to stop this planned genocide, but they did and have had to spend the last 60 years defending their right to exist. Isreal is certainly not above criticism for some of its actions, but they should have followed the example of the all the Arab countries around them and expelled the infidels as soon as they won their first war. By trying to take the ‘high road’, to whatever extent they did, they left themselves in an untenable situation that is not going to be relieved by Obama or any other outside influence.

“There are people here who are playing with fire by damaging our relationship with the U.S.,” the source said.

Since when is Obama the U.S., ? Yup, he is the president, but there is so much he can do, he can’t even push through his health care plan, so why fair him?

He is playing victim, so to get some attention as he is losing steam. He tried doing that here in the USA by saying that people who are against his policies are racist.

We are not against America, we are against a person who seems to relaxed on the Iranian issue, more relaxed than Germany and France. Against a person who seems to befriend all our enemies and the enemies of the US.

the attitude of thje zionists and many posters here is a perfect example of dangerous fanaticism. these zealouts place us all in danger by seeking to antagonize the leader of the free world. Additionally, at least the Israelis, show an extreme ingratitude by biting the hand that feeds them. where would these welfare takers, living off the US taxpayers be without US aid?

It is clear that Obama has failed in every political goal he has attempted to drive forward since his election. The Olympic vote was a historic snub by the Nations of the World of Sport. The Noble Committee is anti-semetic. They have failed themselves over the past several decades and is meaningless. Now the only important thing is who will run in the next Presidential Election. Obama probably will not be on the ticket due to his failed politics.

May it is time Israel stand up for tiself and shame on the President for behaving like a small child(=bully) who does not get his way. If 1/4 of humanity is Muslim why should they care about a few million Jews? May it is time to men and hold to truth against the world. Not in a violent but with self confidence and trust in Hashem. It is time to find a spine

Obama did not say anything different than any other president about the settlements, the settlements have always been an issue for the US.
Also if he is handling it a different way, that may be a good thing since what has has been done in the past has not worked. Even if you disagree wil his policy on Israel I do not see any Antisemitism. One can be a great friend and still criticize that very friend, he does not have too agree with every action Israel takes to be a supporter of Israel.

America is run by democrats who don’t care for the safety of Israel. The funny thing is, the president of Jordan can say something like “Israel’s settlement policy in East Jerusalem is undermining the stability of Israeli-Jordanian relations” and be taken seriously. As if there was stability. It’s a new tactic of Israel that they’re actually defending themselves in politics. We’ll see what the American Governments’ reaction is, and how the government of Israel decides to react to that. Maybe they’ll turn into kittens again and win a Nobel Peace Prize.

For what it’s worth, I suspect that the vast majority of tax money that is sent to Israel actually comes back to the US through arms sales. It is really a gov subsidy of the defense contractors.
As far as what “would have happened” had not the USA supported Israel – you really cannot say, for there is only one destiny. Take a look at your Megilas Ester – if USA would not have helped, the help would have come from somewhere else.
